Socket LGA 775, the mosfets, some heatsinks and spot the new 8-pin power connector. It's the "P4" connector. Usually this is a 4-pin connector. Now do not worry if your PSU only has the 4-pin model. It'll work fine and will fit just as well. The newer PSU's however have the new 8-pin model connector which can cram 150 Watts directly to these lovely new dual and quad core CPU's.
No review shall be complete without some photo's versus cool lighting. This is the initial stage of building the PC. We received a Zalman fan which quite frankly worked really fine... but it's just a big SOB to have in the PC.
As you can see the green light emanating from the fan didn't satisfy my senses either. So you can already see the tubing for passive water-cooling. I really hated the look of that Zalman fan.
Different graphics card here yet a more recent photo. This is the mainboard slash PC in it's final design with some cool UV lighting. The 680i PC has become our primary test-system for graphics cards.
Here you can clearly see the passive water-cooling mounted onto the processor.
