Introduction

Enermax MaxRevo 1350W

A couple of years ago we noticed an increased demand in power supplies due to the harder and stringent requirements from hardware. Single GPU went dual-GPU, dual-core went quad-core on processors and we started adding a lot more chips onto motherboards. That combined with our thirst for overclocking resulted into kilowatt power supplies.

The last year of two we got increasingly more concise about the fact that using a lot of energy .. well it isn't healthy for anyone really. It costs more, PSUs are more expensive and so on. So then the new trend started, more efficient power supplies. Right now most people DIY PC gamers have a 600-700 Watt power supply, preferably an energy efficient one.

This new trend resulted in a down flux of the real beasts amongst power supplies. Personally I just love kilowatt power supplies, but then again I'm a freak, always have the latest gear and equipment. So when Enermax released the new MaxRevo power supply Gawd put a smile upon my face, not to quote a popular band.

Now before you scream 'Kilowhaaattheffffuuuuuf' and run away, hear me out.

The MaxRevo is intended for the really heavy duty work. Enermax released the 1350 Watt model, which can actually peak towards 1620 Watt. And yes yes .. we put a new slow 16A fuse in our power circuitry group just to be able to test and stress this beast, which is gonna be hard alright.

1350 Watt .. with peak power available up-to 1620 Watt, yummie. Interestingly enough this is a nice small sized power supply, you'll hardly hear it, has plenty of modular options, well read: it's all modular and is 80 PLUS Gold certified. That makes the modular cables based MaxRevo PSU series 88-94% efficient @ 20-100% load.

Awesome stuff. Anyways, have a peek at the product tested today while I grab 5 GPUs to stress test the fracker. It is going to be a daunting task to actually stress this power supply, but we'll give it our best shot. Next page please.
