Final Words and conclusion

When we tested the Vengeance K60 we found it to be an interesting keyboard, heck this is Corsair's first real attempt to release a set of keys aimed at you, the gamers. And as I've stated, that's a hard crowd to please alright :) They are accomplishing in their mission though and for a first release of the series you have to acknowledge the product. The K90 is a good set of keys, especially for gamers.

Much like the K60 on the K90 I like to have seen more USB ports. Heck go crazy with USB 3.0. All other remarks fade away as the K90 does have the programmable keys and backlighting. That makes the K90 a very good product in terms of features. The primary functionality and feel is great though.

We are still a little puzzled as to why the function keys are dome keys and not mechanical. Upon further checking we noticed that the G macro keys are dome based as well. It's no biggy though, at least not for me.

What impresses me as well is pricing, we've seen keyboards from the bigger players in the keyboard market easily topping the 150 to 200 EUR range, Corsair will offer the K90 for roughly 105 EUR and for that money you really are receiving something well designed and comfortable to play games on.

CORSAIR K90 KEYBOARD

Most high-end keyboards (and that is the category we are reviewing in) will lure you with extra features, like multiple USB ports and audio ports, Corsair concentrated on the stuff that matters, the Cherry MX keys, the wrist rest, the overall functionality, programmable G keys, back-lit keys and sure the design as well.

The K90 does take getting used to a little. Give yourself a few days with they keyboard to fully understand it and get a feel for it. As using a mechy definitely is a little different compared to your run of the mill keyboard. We do have to warn you though that if you use the keyboard for productivity (typing letters etc) then noise might become a factor to consider. mechanical keyboards are simply more noisy when you type on them -- I'm not joking there. But that again is prone to personal preference.

Would we recommend the K90 ? Yep definitely, for it purpose it is an excellent set of keys. Again I would recommend to Corsair for the future model to have all mechanical function keys as well, end-users in this class like to swap out the keys and currently the ESC key and function buttons are dome based, they can't be replaced with any customizable keycap out there.

That said, we already liked the K60, and can only acknowledge that the Vengeance K90 is the superior product. Again, mechanical keyboards are aimed at gamers and you do need to keep that in mind. For a first release of the series, the k90 is very mature and very feature rich. We also need to state that the macro programmability of the G keys is very easy and follows a well thought through concept. Highly recommended if you are a gamer. We would have liked to see rubberized swappable WASD keys though, just like the K60 has, but that really all I can comment on an otherwise excellent product.
