Boots on the ground

As you've been able to notice thoughout the photoshoot, Building the Platform:6 desk is a bit of an experience. Right from unboxing, it's clear that this desk caters to every tech enthusiast's needs.

Powering your devices? The desk includes a 3-port power strip, ready to charge your laptop or phone with both USB Type-A and Type-C ports. And for your main gadgets, another 6-port power strip is at your disposal. What's cool? The height adjustment of this desk is driven by two electric motors, making transitions smooth. The LCD controller isn't just about moving up or down; it can be programmed to your preferred height settings.

The sturdiness? Those legs are made of steel and reinforced, ensuring this desk isn't going anywhere. But wait Dave, there's more. A built-in storage space beneath a chic wooden lid is perfect for decluttering. It's handy  for managing cables for items like your keyboard, but it also houses power outlets and provides a spot for smaller essentials like SD cards.

Wire management is a breeze with the spacious tray underneath. It’s designed to hold multiple power strips and offers enough room for all your cable management needs. Plus, a pegboard design allows for the addition of RapidRoute cable channels and power brick trays, making organization even more seamless. Above the storage cubby, There is one small design flaw there, with your normal USB cable you insert them vertically, you cannot close that latch properly. Hopefully, in the next revision, Corsair will mount the USB connector in a horizontal position.

Now, back to the power strips. Platform:6 has a flexible 3-port power strip. You can either attach it directly or integrate it more seamlessly using the rail adapter. There's also a 6-port version designed for the wire management tray. Depending on where you're purchasing, they come in configurations suitable for North American, EU, or UK outlets. Both USB Type-A and Type-C ports deliver a power output of 3.1A @ 5V. Here you can also see the PEG board-based cable router underneath the desk. It is really fantastic as you can plug in all kinds of hooks as well, helping you with routing cables but also can be used to hang your headphones for example. Of course, Corsair includes an abundance of cable ties and velcro straps.

For powering up the in-built USB ports, simply connect one of the USB Type-A ports from the 6-port strip to the USB Type-C port underneath. And there you have it, a desk designed for the modern techie. It's really handy, with all USB-connected devices on your desk these days. 3.1A x 5W is roughly 15 Watts for charging asay your phone. A bit of a missed opportunity we feel is an embedded QI charger in the desk.

Designed for dual-monitor setups, it boasts monitor arms compatible with 75x75mm or 100x100mm VESA mounts. Earlier, I hinted at two configurations of the Platform:6 desk. One stands at a fixed 30" (76cm) height, while the other showcases its versatility with adjustable heights from 29-48” (74-122cm), thanks to the dual motor legs. Here again with such a wide desk and surround view in mind, an option for a triple monitor arm would have been nice.

Setting up the rail system? It's straightforward. Attach it to the designated corner holes, and you're good to go. This also means mounting the dual monitor arms is a hassle-free experience. If you're a fan of ultrawide monitors, don't worry – it supports a 34” ultrawide too.
