Granted, it's not every day that UPS drops by my office and delivers four packages with one of the packages weighing in at almost 80kg. The delivery courier was not happy, but I certainly was. After opening up the main package I was immediately captivated by the quality of product that came to the eyes. Yes, gurus, this is not your normal gaming desk, this is a product series that was thought through so intensely, that the first things that come to mind is sturdiness, and the second is features ... so many features. Corsair's Platform:6 has been thoughtfully designed with one person in mind, you, allowing for easy attachment of everything from monitor arms to streaming accessories. Corsair's Platform:6 is more than just a modular sit or standing desk though. It's a workspace designed for everyone - be it a remote worker, a content creator, or even a hardcore gamer. Set to hit the shelves in the fourth quarter, we're still waiting on the official price tag on Corsair's site.
Diving into the features, the online configurator for Platform:6 is a tad complex, blurring the lines between what's standard and what's an add-on. But the base package is already set to impress. Think a rail with dual monitor arms, an efficient cable management tray, and a handy storage nook decked out with USB Type-A and Type-C ports. Next to that, you'll notice power connectors. We love however the built-in modular rail system. Imagine a workspace where everything has its place, thanks to a myriad of desk accessories. You can attach a peg board with hooks to hang your headset or use the integrated cable routing structure to do that. Corsair will offer several models of this desk including a Creator Edition, all tuned for Elgato gear. Would you like to change the height of the desk, or change it into a sitting or standing position? It's all possible with the click of a button. You can even make height profiles so you can tweak the perfect choice in desk height. Want a bigger desk? You can stretch it out with 30 x 70cm side extensions (yes on both sides even. And for those like me with headphones and controllers galore, the attachable pegboards are super handy.
As stated, the Platform:6 isn’t just another 'gaming desk.' It seems to offer so much more, including cable clutter woes prevention (extensive cable routing options) for those who like it all nice and tidy. Let's have a peek first though, meet the desk that we've been building and using.
