Specification and unboxing
Corsair headsets have been reviewed on Guru3d since “the beginning of time”. The packaging is familiar – it’s a traditional black/yellow design. The HS70 comes in a well-packaged box. I say this out of personal experience, as the review sample had some misadventures on the way; the box was bent and damaged (that is why no pics of the actual box are included). Luckily the contents inside were all ok, and no damage occurred.
Inside the packaging you’ll find the headset, a USB 7.1 soundcard (dongle), 1.5 m Micro-USB cable, a mic, and a small guide.

The headset looks a little plain maybe, there is no RGB LED to be found, but still, it’s totally wireless so this is a nice upside. With its roughly 10 meters, the range is pretty good. Corsair uses the 2.4 GHz wireless ISM band, normally assigned for industrial, scientific and medical applications, with a solution based on Avnera AV6301 / AV 6302 hardware. You don’t need a discreet soundcard, as the included USB 7.1 one will do a proper job - so that you can use the headset effectively.
Included in the packaging you can find: the Corsair Gaming headset with its roughly 1.5m of Micro-USB cable (rubber), a quick start guide, an info leaflet, and a warranty card (the product is covered by a two-year warranty).
Inside the box there is also an additional unidirectional MIC. According to Corsair it has noise-canceling properties. It works well, the mic’s audio quality is nice and the voice is clear.
The drivers are updated and part of their iCUE software suite. You need to install it to manage the EQ and Surround functionality. It controls all Corsair gear, so if you have any other pieces (like AIOs, keyboards, etc.) they will also show up in there.
