Specification and Unboxing

So we have been reviewing Corsair headsets ever since the beginning. initially the Corsair HS1 was a nice start, decent design, comfortable, and it sounded good. Of course there was room for improvement, but not much, actually the HS1 is still a great pair of headphones. Corsair, of course, didn't rest on their wonder, they added more headsets, all under the Vengeance brand, the 1500, 1300, and the 1100. Wireless got tagged as 2000 and 2100 and now the Corsair Gaming series has been released as well. Obviously the DNA is very much the same, this is the H1500.

The H1500 comes in a suitable cardboard box, with a window on the side so you can see the coolness contained within. Never mind the picture of it on the box:

The Vengeance 1500 2100 are extremely close to the H1500 in terms of audio features. The difference in between the 1500 and H1500 models is pretty much NIL except for 7.1 Dolby and the all dark/yellow design. And though the Corsair gaming H1500 will work without it, it comes with a driver e.g. software suite to enable the surround mode and a nice selection of EQ, but we'll show you that later.

The H1500 is not too heav, we measured 325g. You'll have to download the drivers for the headset from Corsairs site. The drivers are also good for the HS1, Vengeance 1100, 1500, 2000 and 2100 in case youre wondering. Mind you, the headphones actually work without drivers installed (tested on Windows 7) yet for the niche EQ and Surround functionality you'll need to download and install them. The latest release driver is 2.0.35 (as tested) and has Windows 8.1 support.
