Page 5 - Zalman (1)
Zalman
One of the bigger surprises this year at CeBIT was the presence of Zalman, or more overly their new range of products. They had a really impressive booth and were showing off their entire shebang. Let's have a quick peek.
First photo. Now how friggin cool is that thing huh ? It's the all new Reserator XT. The reserator is a passive water cooling unit for your processor, mainboard chipset and graphics card. We tested all Reserators in the past and they rock. In fact I have two HTPC's myself and both are cooled with a Zalman Reserator.
None of them were even close to the aesthetics of this new model. Really really lovely !
Now if you read our Reserator 2 review the you noticed that the VGA block does not fit on GeForce 8800 graphis cards as the GPU core is just too big. Well above you can see the soon to be released Zalman waterblock for the 8800 GTX.
And another model for the GTX. These things look like serious business, very nice.
The new Zmachine casing. But that's not what impressed me the most. Zalman is introducing the following, and it's quite an interesting move:
You say that screen is blurry, in fact it's a Stereoscopic 3D monitor. I had the chance of testing it and it's of bloody brilliant quality. I recently had 15 minutes to peek at a 17" 1200 USD EZ-3d monitor (USA manufacturer) and it does not come close to what this screen is doing.
Now the surprise, it's working really well. It's 19", and does 1280x1024 yet will only cost roughly 450 USD. Which is just an amazing price. Your graphics card needs to be a recent NVIDIA GeForce though as the PC uses the 3D Stereoscopic drivers from NVIDIA.
Really cool stuff at a very interesting price. And it's a Zalman product which equals style as well.
