Processor performance
Processor performance: This little pumpkin is equipped with an Intel Core i5 520UM processor, an Ultra Low Voltage dual-core processor for small and light laptops. It is clocked at 1.06 GHz normal speed and 1.86 GHz when Turbo Boost kicks in. Each core is based on the Nehalem (Westmere) micro-architecture. Hyperthreading enables the Dual Core CPU to handle 4 threads at once but thus has two physical cores.
For an UltraPortable this is lovely performance. All operations that you perform on your M11x are snazzy and fast enough. Gaming wise we feel that the Turbo Boost really helps out, even the more modern titles seem to benefit from that.
Above, a couple of benchmarks we ran. Again, nothing comparative against desktop performance. But feel free to compare a little with desktop materials in our articles. The memory subsystem I had hoped to be a bit faster, roughly 5000 MB/sec on both read and write performance. Included also are some standard tests.
Compared to desktops, the performance obviously is extremely low. But remember... netbook / UltraPortable! The processor always needs to form a good balance / symbiosis if you will with the GPU. And we do feel that this balance is very decent.
