Guys, just download Freetube and use as client to watch YouTube videos. No ads, no nada. Available on all almost platforms. Save your time and attention for more important things.Don't give YouTube nothing, not even your 1 second attention.

No problems with the free version of YT. A couple of adverts here and there but nothing more than a minute. Most can be skipped after 5 seconds.

Guys, Freetube. Not worth the hassle dealing with YouTube shenanigans.

I think it depends on region bud, the ads ive seen are very different depending on using a VPN (set as UK), using my TVs (thinks im in Greece) or my PCs (thinks im in Turkey).

Or just drag and drop the youtube video into a media player like mpv or vlc.

Just continuing to use Firefox, I already figured out how to get past it... it's not a problem to be honest.

You people misunderstand. I'm anti freeloader and service theft, not pro Google 😛.
Yo GT, if I could pay google to not have any of my data shared I would. But as it is I will use their services as little as possible, since even if I pay them they still sell my data. With Google, we are the end product that they sell. All we can do is hope for a change, until then I will block the occasional YT visits I do these days. I dont think Google acts/behaves like a regular "honest" business and feel I have no obligation to bow to their demands.

Or just click back arrow while the ad is playing then go forward. It should skip the adverts.

Brave browser does a decent job at keeping ads out I use it with Startpage.com for search engine

Bugger changed for me last night too, trying to force ads, im using FF and Ublock Origin, now when i select a video to watch, i get the spinning reticle for a few seconds, and the timing of the vid could be 30/59 seconds etc... long, which is presumably the advert, then after a few more seconds of spinning, the video screen just goes white, and i get a skip ads in the bottom right, which i just hit, and then luckily, the video i want to watch just starts and plays as normal 😀

As far as I know, Youtube needs a formal consent from the user to inspect what software the said user runs, as far as browser extension goes. That's UE legislation. That pop up puts YouTube in the wrong doer seat.

Still fine here, just get the adverts trying to load for a few seconds, before the video i want to watch just kicks in and starts playing.

Google doesn't really comply with law in most countries. They even went so far as to even violate privacy laws for children. Unless they get huge lawsuits and fines, they will break the law at every opportunity.

Bigtech wouldn't get filthy rich by being nice and law abiding.

True. And then they pretend people are bad for using ad blockers.

Even though that would be great, unfortunately they can just claim that the only test they do is whether or not a test ad has loaded and that they aren't looking at the extensions you installed.

Right, for all the morally righteous virtue peacockers, am i right to do this. I pay £29.99 a months for Discovery Plus so i can watch sport on TNT Sports, but the service has gone down and has been down all day, so im watching an 'illegal' stream, but if ive actually already paid, whats the issue?
