For the actual street price of this next gen VGA it can be 5x faster than any current graphics card and still won't be bothered. If the next generation will be good at mining then no one will get them for msrp.

Unless its got some sort of AI accelerator, its DOA.

AMD will probably add complete ray-tracing units and Tensor units. They can't afford not to, after both nVidia and Intel have these types of units. I wonder if they will keep using that much L3 cache. It took up a bit of space of those RDNA2 chips. Or if they'll move to memory with higher bandwidth, or a larger memory bus.

If cards keep being used for mining then I wont ever buy 1 again When my 5700 rests its head I just wont bother I have found it hard to afford even before mining so for me at least it is game over 🙁

You can literally swap your 5700 for 6700 without any additional cost so no need to buy new.

Im not that brave to try and i would have no card while waiting on the new 1

Considering AMD's situation with DXR, the 7700 performing like a 6900 is almost a necessity. However, that is still a good leap in performance, if true. Of course, it all comes down to price.

So we had 400$ midrange gpu with 5700xt then we had an increase to 500$ for 6700xt so why not continue the trend and go to 600$ for a midrange gpus in 2022. Im sure nvidia will do the same with 4070.

I remember a devil 5700xt being 410$ and i though ah thats expensive i'll wait for 6700xt. Now that would be dirt cheap lol.

I just sold a 5700XT for 1200$ CAD a couple of weeks ago. I paid not much more for my new 6800. Market is crazy. It is what it is i guess ...

No matter how fast future cards are going to be if we can´t buy them anyway...

I am seriously thinking about this If I could sell it cash on collection I could go into OCUK and gran a 6700xt same day out of interest anyone want a 5700 in here? lol But why is that prices are so close? is the hash rate better on 5xxx series or something?

I bought the 6800 before selling the card though. It's hard to find a good deal. Most 6800 were sold at around 2 grands back then but one day i saw one 6800 sold by a retailer instead of a scalper and i grabbed it right away. I think overall with shipping of both cards it cost me 400$ CAD for the upgrade after selling the 5700 XT which i found was perfectly fine for such an upgrade. In a normal market the 6800 would have been around 700$ and the 5700XT probably worth around 300$ so ... It's hard to tell why the price was relatively close. I guess it's so hard to find GPUs in canada that miners don't give a crap about the performance difference they just want more GPUs and are willing to pay?

Lisa is hopeful that in the 2nd part of 2022, shortage will ease down. For myself, i see light in China banning cryptomining and "Ethereum 2.0" to lessen the volume of GPU used for cryptocurrency. When retailer (or whatever intermediary is trying to rip our pockets!) will have full high price GPU they can't sell, they will lower price.

U realise that equals to $1200ish cad right that's insane for what would have been upper midrange in a normal market.

a few educated guesses.... 1) 3D- V Cache shows up 2) definitely wider memory bus, certainly if there's 3D- V Cache and remember this is a smaller process AND no-one is more adept at mcm than AMD which leads to ... 3) a separate multicore tensor / RT chiplet married to the controller remember the only limits to Infinity Fabric implementation on a pcb are imagination and socket size

Here's hope that RX 7000 will be as successful as HD 7000 once was 😉
