Maybe the time has come to retire trusty win7-64bit 🙂 although i might just wait 6 months extra for the newborn 'kinks' to be somewhat removed/fixed 🙂

I will upgrade from Win 7 all together with a new Pascal GPU, which is somewhere in 2016.
There is always Windows 8.1. 🙂
ME 2? Vista 2? Im good with Win 7 still.

no no no... W8 is far worse (i would even have said a step back from W7 in the 1st release, a lot better (to equivalent W7) in W8.1 🙂 ) on other hand it was a dead end fork (as vista btw). if W10 stay as it is in latest build, it will be really great, the choise of interface is back, tactile/mediacenter/desktop/old skool... well, it's what W8 should have been.

Will run my gaming righ with win10 (will run win8.1 in the meantime), my HTPC will stay with win7 though.

Windows 8.1 != Windows 8. Windows 8.1 is fine. It surprises me people are still questioning if it's overall better than 7.

Sweet! I am looking forward for Windows 10. I would like to get the START MENU back 🙂 the rest can be similar to 8.1, no problem.
You do know the new Start Menu isn't like the one in previous Windows versions since they removed all the code. It's more of a hybrid between the start screen and start menu.

Until somebody offers a program to use the 'old' style menu again, like they did with 8(.1) too. 🙂 I did try to use the metro screen too, but after having trouble setting it up like I wanted without having to use different workarounds, I went for the classic shell with 8.1, and never looked back. Can't say I've missed the new metro stuff since then.

July eh, better get some work done MS, not installing that thing if it's only a few builds better than we have atm
Is it really that bad? I know a few people have been very vocal about how unfinished the builds are right now. Can it be worse than what Windows 8.1 was on release?

Thanks, I just Googled it... Well, this Start Menu looks to me like a kind of hybrid... I hope that after the program is installed, and lets say it will add 5 more icons to the start menu - it will be in one group; That is I hope that the "tree" structure will be there, like in the old Windows. At the moment in Win8.1 after I install any program, I get few icons in the start menu screen: program, uninstall, website links, read me notes, etc, blabla, blabla; so after few programs there is a complete mess there. I have navigate to the location of those shortcuts an delete them manually... Another thing is if I want to switch off my PC I have to press the Start Logo with right mouse button to see the switch off button 🙂 In my opinion, apart from less convenient Start Menu and harder to reach Switch Off button, Win 8.1 is great: faster and more stable than Win 7.
Basically the new start menu is just a condensed version of the metro screen from 8.1

Is that stupid search bar still glued the taskbar in win10?
I haven't tried Windows 10 yet to be honest. I don't have the search bar in Windows 8.1. Do you mean the Bing search bar?

Windows 10 has a search bar attached to the taskbar, to the right of the start button. It can be disabled but it's on by default.

I have always hated search bars. I like my desktop to be as clean as possible. This is one of the things I like about the metro UI as it allows me to keep my desktop free of icons.

Can you sort the start menu items under "All Apps" and arrange them in folders and sub-folders like in Windows 7 yet? I really like to have a sorted and tidy start menu (and desktop for that matter).

No you can't sort or arrange them or even sub folder them. I honestly think the new start menu is worse than the one in 8.1. I don't like how when you expand the start screen to fullsize the all apps menu remains in a slide navbar on the left. I want it to take up the full screen like it did in 8.1. But it's not finished yet so who knows really. I know the search results are eventually supposed to be moved inside the start screen, as opposed to the pop out it creates now.

The most useless feature I've seen so far is 'Ask Cortana'. I really have no use at all for voice search on a PC. I don't even use it on Android.

I agree. Also, it's constantly listening to what is happening, an you never know what of it is recorded and sent somewhere else, not necessarily by M$ (or google on your cell phone), but by somebody hijacking your machine.

Microsoft should give the option to disable it. Plus it can't record or 'listen' without a mic enabled.
