There is actually an option to turn this off in the login settings. I noticed this right away because the Skype startup sound appeared right on the login screen.

I actually like this. My current PC being due for an hardware update, it does help that when I log in (I'm the only user) all the background apps such as fan control and mouse/keyboard controllers are already running minimised in the background.
I can see however that with multi-user PC's this might be an annoying feature.

I noticed this when i reset my PC once and was in a discord audio channel when i did it. When the login screen came on, i was not at the PC yet, so it was a few moments before i logged on. To my surprise, people were talking to me (but i could not talk to them) through discord, on my login screen, without ever touching the PC after restarting it.

I'm curious about this as well. Is it this option?

Its too buggy, sometimes it loads ok sometime it just hangs and onedrive loads longer then expected, even after logging in.. also this new feature can break audio startup service.. apparently my sb doesn't get set to correct audio format.
Same thing by logoff, sometimes taskmanager or explorer hangs.
edit:
-Probably a logitech lgps connection & hookup with custom OSD widget apps. Will see if newer version 8.96 fixes it, I had 8.92 before.

Really like this feature myself, saves an extra few seconds and I've not encountered any problems with it.

To be acceptable should just be called `autologin a particular user at startup but protect screen with that user password`
In this way is unacceptable.
User should know what they get.

let the conspiracy continue !? could be good for people that let it sit on loin screen, not so much others but

I like how a restart now feels like resuming from sleep or hibernation, the apps you had open are reopened and its so fast
but as always they break things too, precision touchpad is jerky, biometric login fails half the time, again..

I personally would rather not have this. Seems to add unnecessary probabilities of issues. What if you share an account with two different logins (for example, Steam)? What if one of these background processes demands user input? What if you're trying to remove a virus and thanks to this feature, you just gave it a head-start? I imagine this would also welcome a slew of security issues, such as someone who intentionally runs a keylogger in their user account.
Thankfully, none of this is an issue to me personally. As the only user to my Windows PC, I just have it log me in directly.

I went an image back to 1703 again.
1709 has two things that bother me.
- Random FPS drops to 30 for a couple of seconds.
- Can't disable the "pick up where i left off" feature, which automatic restarts programs on boot.

Developers : With this new update we added this superduper feature
Users : You could add a toggle on/off option

This is why I use a Bloatfree version of Win10 as well as OO Shut up for Win 10. Microsoft doesn't need to know what I do with my computer

Disabling fast startup under hidden power options, fast boot in bios and fast boot under memory settings in bios, stopped this feature entirely for me.Fast startup doesn't even show up under hidden power options any more. Was causing an issue of Windows startup sound to not play on cold boot.

O&O ShutUp 10 and disable everything...:D
I Still have not updated to FCU...i have blocked the updates until they fix all those bugs.

I use O&O shutup too, but it doesn't help with the automatic login bug eeehh sorry feature we are discussing.
