Not bying western digital anymore, bought two external drive (not even SSD) from them over the years, and both ended up by failing.
Those drives were never moved, sitting on a desk always connected to a desktop PC, and both ended up failing out of nowhere.
No western digital from me, my latest external storage was a samsung external SSD, and i'm really happe with it.

I recently purchased a 64gb sandisk thumb drive and it broke on first usage... not even kidding, brand new out of the box.
The brand is just not what it used to be.

That is the product you get for paying your workers $8.59 per day to make the drives.

I bought one of those pieces of garbage and I can confirm that it randoms disconnect, huge drops in speed during transfers (I am talking about 2 big files - starts at 140 MB/s and drops to 4....), disconnect, reconnect, drive not recognized, disconnect again, etc
No more....
I throw it in the garage and after a while It started to transfer by itself...a lot of dust!

I guess it depends, I've got SanDisk micro cards in my IR/UV camera a year old without a problem yet and I've got a SanDisk 256GB 3.0 thumb drive and not a problem yet. I have to agree with the WD's though, my buddy lost WD externals like crazy he went through 3 of them before he got the hint. Oh forgot I've got a San 256 in my & wife's phone too.

Here I was thinking I was talking about a brand after having many products from said brand die shortly after purchase the past couple years, a usb thumb drive just happened to be the most recent product that failed, then commenting that the brand just isn't what it used to be.
Funnily enough the reason I went with Corsair when purchasing new hard drives a few months ago...
