Like the connector, if only it was flippable and somehow backwards compatible with usb mini (in a not flippable form).

everyone is mesmerized by seq speeds to notice really mediocre random speeds. 2 840 EVOs running in raid0 (!!!) and AS SSD Bench score is only 520. my single 840 EVO on sata3 has AS SSD score of over a thousand.

Can you add any IOPS tests? I'm less concerned about maximum bandwidth and more about how much overhead the bus adds. How do the speeds/latency compare with SATA3?

Why 4K has so much difference? Is there someking of magic or bull**** lies about performance?

USB 3.1 is a game changer i think, although the ability to have the connector anyway way round is nice it does provide impressive speed but also it can deliver enough power to charge a laptop with upto 100w at 20v or even power your monitor with out having to connect it to a AC outlet. One cable and power supply and you will be able to charge every device, laptop, phone, tablet headset with out having to carry a massive amount of adapters around with you.

So basically it's similar to what Apple use for charging IPhones/iPads, as that can be flipped 180 so there's no wrong way to put it in.
Yes it is similar, because that was a really good move (they should do it in the host side of the cable too). A little thing that makes me worry, is that we still doesn't have 14 3.0 USB ports on today motherboards (my MB have 10 2.0 USB ports on the back and 4 on internal connector), and we are jumping to USB 3.1, of course this is a great advance, but the number of high speed ports should be raised. Well and there's the problem with the really low number of USB 3.0 ports on modern Laptops (Even Ultra books like the Dell XPS 13 have only 2 USB 3.0 ports (no 2.0)).

I'm kinda of annoyed I just bought my Asus motherboard and now they are refreshing them with USB 3.1 but oh well.
if you think you really need usb 3.1 asus will sell expansion cards for 30 or 40$. btw, USB 3.1 motherboards will be more expensive than regular ones.
