Still serving the uplay installer, but on PC it doesn't appear to be much different at all, just some new icons and a brand change.
Strange Times
ah bloat 2.0, we need one launcher for all pc games

This doesn't affect me, since the last Ubisoft game i played was Far Cry 1.

Straight from their UPLAY launcher. Also not all games are making the transition. That article can be found here: rl66
EA change Origin to EA Desktop too... in both Ubi and EA case it is all wrong way.
Both company are totaly disconected with their users...

Funny thing is that EA play will soon be available on xbox game pass included in the ultimate subscription which is a direct competitor to ubisoft's uplay +. Google will let Uplay + (Connect) be available on Stadia included in the sub aswell I think. Ubisoft wants to be everywhere on every platform included everywhere it seems

Seems to do the same job as before, so long as it does not hog system resources when the browser is open(which it does not) i see no problem, the Division2 still runs from my taskbar shortcut with out having to go through uplay launcher which is also fine.

Weird, I for one kind of like Uplay and found it to be among the better launchers/platforms after steam. With EA Origin I can understand them letting it go, since they basically stopped working on it years ago. Oh well...

diffrent name same crap, I perfer game threw steam one launcher, I have zero interested in this store/launcher and user/pass for every dev/publisher path the pc sector is going for games, which has already lead to exclusivity within pc sector via "store/launcher a"
It inconvenient to user
NVM the mess that is system that list the games you own... there launcher where show all the games you own but there website will not, and considering i dont have launcher isntalled it very hard to keep track what game I actual have from them which probably less then 10
The Laughing Ma
Nice to know the new name of the software I am never going to download.

@Solfaur
see if you still like it, when it crashes your games every time your trying to use the uplay overlay,
or if lucky, it only "cuts" part of the (game) screen.
completely ignoring the fact that ubi has time/money to waste on this piece of crap sw,
instead of fixing bugs on games out for +5y (siege)...
Corrupt^
Oooh... perhaps my friends chat will actually function now π

lol, didnt know you actually use it.
im semi ok, craps out here and there, but others arent as lucky, and the numbers show its not just random.
just hope they spend the time not fixing uplay and got it half way right with the new one.

Well this just release, other than a different color icon it looks the same as Uplay.

When each new release breaks new sales records and pre-order totals keep topping the previous year no that's not changing.
Higher base price too (Hello Australia you're [beeped] it seems. - Something like 100 to 130 AUD.) and a focus on micro transactions.
At least there's less editions now but they're costlier instead and a push to these service subscriptions as well Ubi Connect and it seems EA Origin is slowly phasing to EA Desktop.
But older titles still need EA Origin because code spaghetti or something instead of I don't know small client updates just fix it ha ha yeah it's probably not quite that easy.
(There's already a legacy layer in Origin too for the oldest titles.)
EDIT: Wonder if the new consoles are part of Ubisoft's "wee!!" strategy here of all out one after another too..
