And that's the nice thing with Dragon Age. They cater to both male and female gamers. (Unless I'm missing something and you can play as a female main character?) I like to immerse myself in being the character I am playing. Something like this puts me off significantly.

"Oh yeah lets scrap geralt because people want muh self character insertion so they can feel like heroes in their games and lets all abandon all story and background!!!111!1" You know your argument is really bad right?

afaik it's all losely based on some novels, more or less, and those happened to have a male protagonist. I guess that's why they kept Geralt, and in addition, I guess they want to do some 'fan service' in the Japanese sense of the term, boosting sales with (younger?) guys.

Witcher 1 is pretty horrible to play though, I've played 2 through about 4 times but couldn't get 30 min into 1.

Depends on your age tbh, or at least thats how i see from my pov having experienced RPGs in the 90's i found the W1 to be pretty good and not at all hard to get into. Liked switching combat modes etc. If anything I welcome the added complexity. And W1 was a game built on a low budget by first timers on an engine created in the late 90s. It feels much older than it is which is why it's not easy for your average player to get into that game. And thats good. Games everyone likes are games no one can love.

I thought they already clarified that the game does not feature 16hours of sex scenes, but that they had made up to 16 hours worth, with not all of it making the final cut. http://puu.sh/f8Whd.png

Man that is a relief because if they did have 16 hours of sex scenes they would get a AO (Adults only rating) which means they could not sell this game on PS4 or Xbox-one.

Can't care less about someone getting offended. I have read all Sapkowski books as they came out, long before there were that bad TV series which made it popular for no good reason. Sapkowski writes in only one way: Violence, Betrayal, Sex, Mystery. His characters were extremely complex with their hidden motives for everything they did. I know a lot of people gets offended by what is written in books. More the better. I for sure can't wait to get my hands on this game. And this is one of few which deserves full payment this year.

Pretty much today's perception of medieval everyday life as it seems. Not that I'd say it's bad, but that seems to be what we get presented.

Not really, it is just Sapkowski (his other books are quite similar). Our rich wartime national history including Crusades. Our books on that are mostly boring to read. Sapkowski just created complex plot, a lot of people with different intents and characteristic, and mixed them into very good drink. Basically if you make book around land and people living on it, moving to it temporarily and leaving. You'll not see much of mentioned characteristics. But if you follow those violent, determined and motivated people around, you get all of it. But you are right if you meant that sex, drugs and violence sells today. (and yes even in Witcher's books you will find drugs and they have big role too (or maybe you can call it faith). 🙂

As a little example I thought about Game of Thrones, whereas it's a try to bring medieval settings to the common tv watcher, and it basically reduces to a plot of deceit, betryal, different characters and what they want / try to achieve, mixed with brutality, and sex of course 🙂
