3070 would certainly be a better choice, but even if the imaginary MSRP meant anything, it would still also be more expensive. Regular folks need to draw the line somewhere, budget wise.
True but as long as prices remain inflated, there is nothing for the regular folks anyway. The lower-end you go, the less it makes sense to buy something overpriced. $800 is too much for the average person to spend on a 3090, but that's what some 3060s (non-Ti) are selling for. If you're going to overpay, it might as well be something really good. Most PC gamers would likely already have a 1080p-capable GPU (like myself) or just buy an OEM system, where you can get a gaming PC for a reasonable price. For everyone else, they'll just get a console.

never cared..... please make news when the msrp are back... and a worldwide crypto fall caused by a virus that deletes all their crytpo data and miners commiting suicide.
That's actually a good idea, wish someone would do it!

If this is to increase production of higher-end models, I'm fine with this. We don't need yet another 1080p GPU (3060) and from what I recall, the 3070 is an overall better choice than the 3060Ti.
GTX 1060 is still the most popular GPU on Steam Hardware Survey. By turning some settings down, you can play games at 4K 60fps even with GTX 1060 6GB, while for newer games with resolution scale at 75%. So RTX 3060 should do much better, I don't see it as a 1080p card at all, especially for games that support DLSS. I would upgrade to RTX 3060, but only a few models are in stock and the price is still well above MSRP.

Reminds me of this video, i'm sure the same applies for a 1060. [youtube=KQSIT18bOvg]

All Intel needs to do with there upcoming GPU release is to have a decent low-mid level card. Reasonably priced, they could grab quite a bit market share right off the bat.

That, and with sufficient quantities to keep up with demand. The good news is, Intel likely does have decent mid-tier hardware. The bad news is, it appears they're using TSMC (or so I'm told).

So 4k ....75 scale ...is about 1440p with everything at the lowest sure it can do it in the majority of games .... Even more if you set the Resolution scale to 50% so 1080p .... What dlss you talk about ? Dlss works with 2xxx cards and 3xxx cards only and does not work with ant 16xx or 1xxx card or older . Edit: my bad about dlss you where not talking about the 1060 on that one.

All this means is that majority of PC gamers won't/can't spend a lot on hardware. This has been obvious since long before the shortages.

Pretty much, upgraded everything except video card... just waiting.

The only reason I have no 3xxx card is because I didn't pay a friend to just stand outside of Best Buy all night long and wait for the ticket......... 3xxx cards are worth their weight in gold right now!

Lol, has the 3060 ti ever been in stock ? xD
I purchased one at MicroCenter last week. They got 27 of them in last week, the first time in several weeks. They are only sold by lottery. You have to go an hour before the store opens and scan a qr code they put on the door to enter the lottery to purchase a gpu. I was one of the lucky ones and got the second to last 3060 Ti they had... I've been trying to hold out for a 3070 but they never have those, except the ti versions which are even more ridiculous than other gpus.. My 3060 Ti was $629, it's just about twice as powerful as my 980 Ti and twice what it should have cost... The 3070 Ti they had was $950!!! I was desperate, but not crazy!

Imagine going out to buy groceries... but you have to enter a lottery for the chance at buying them. lol.

Yeah TPU has a thread on Microcenter stock watch and all the RTX3000 stock just keep moving extremely quick, hundred of them just come and gone the next day LOL Meanwhile 6700XT and 6900XT are just sitting on shelf, flexing their ridiculous price tags

it is a crazy and hard time right now... my only regret 5 years ago was purchasing the GTX 1060 because it was famous instead of a GTX 1070 ti. now im feeling that 192 bit is struggling in some games 🙁
Rx580 seems to be a better choice maybe not at the time but definitely today.

fern374702:

im tempted to buy a brand new RX 580 ... but the price of a RX580 here is a bit higher than the supposed MSRP of RTX 3060. maybe because Crypto mining is not yet banned here in my Country.
Forget about it and wait until 3060 gets close to msrp.

Crazy... prices are becoming normal in denmark, for when there is the occasional stock - there was 9x asus 3080 tuf's in stock yesterday, which were sold for 5600 dkk, or a little under 900 usd - and that's including the large danish tax.
