would expect much better thermal efficiency from a big aluminum block

not enough fins so less surface area to allow for passive cooling probably would have been better if the fins were like these http://www.modsynergy.com/Modsynergy%20files/TR2-M3-cooler.jpg only more of them and long enough to cover the whole side of the case
