It's not a UE game, so I wonder if someone will mod in DLSS?

Great, so it's "optimised" to use the shittiest of mostly shitty upscalers. Lovely. Does that mean they know that main game is going to run poorly out the door?

I wouldn't be counting on DLSS anyway, so that's fine with me. On the other hand, AMD CPU optimisation is better than Intel optimisation, because Intel optimisation basically means relying on super high clocks. AMD optimisation shouldn't particularly hurt Intel CPU owners, though those with the topmost models might not get everything out of their CPUs. But then again, it's a Bethesda game, so too high fps might break it anyway.
My CPU is quite comparable to the Series X CPU, so the optimisation should be spot on.

Wasn't the latest Star Wars game optimised for AMD as well? I didn't hear it worked too well out the gate on release, regardless of the platform.

In the presentation, Todd Howard only said that the game will include FSR2 for PC and consoles.
No word on whether the game will have or not have other upscalers.

DLSS, XeSS, FSR2... All of that crap thing to make you feel you have a powerfull GPU instead having real powerful GPU...
It's a mirage, for now GPU (whatever the brand) can only handle basic RT, those tricks only make high fps possible with dramatic degradation of the image quality.
But i agree that most people play on bad quality screen, so a bit worse can't be noticed on that (lol).

Imagine paying to keep the competition out, and in the end releasing a bug ridden game (it's Bethesda and an TES-like game after all). I can already see the backlash...
Oh well, I didn't plan to play this anyway.

Don't know if AMD has made some improvements to FSR of late? Would be great if Starfield used the latest version in that case.

The only way those deals make sense, given AMD is 15% of desktop discrete graphic card market (steam hardware survey) and 33% desktop CPU market, is that those studios are looking for help to get the best out of consoles, anything PC related is just a byproduct.
As long as the game is running 4k60 without any upscaler, I won't mind no DLSS, still a bit of a shame tho.
I wonder if it's explicitly mentioned in their deal or if it's the studios which feel morally bound to exclude competing upscalers after leveraging AMD help:
They could be playing the long game, and look to preserve healthy long term relationship with AMD.

No dlss, no buy.
Amd supported titles has Fsr/Fsr2 only
NVidia supported titles has both dlss and fsr/fsr2.

BLEH!
Both consoles run on AMD hardware, so it makes sense.

I would welcome DLSS but if the FSR implementation is as fantastic, as it was in Dying Light 2, I have no issue with FSR. In DL2, FSR made me wonder, what u even need tensor cores for, when u can do the same or better without em, achieving same performance and more natural look than DLSS quality.
To one old man shouting on DLSS - do u realize it can look better than native, right? 🙂 With it best quality setting ofc.
I believe CPU optimization based on AMD will be good for everybody.
BUT
Given the game is advertised as 30 fps game, I tell you. Forget about high refresh rate. We will be glad to run it at 60fps locked, and we will need a beefy system to achieve that.
In a year, the performance will improve, and the bugs will get ironed out. Must have mods will be ready.
So jumping on it at day one makes zero sense.

IF they tune FSR to minimize the ghosting issue, than everybody will be happy.

Doesn't FSR work on Nvidia cards?
