"form a coalition of the willing, because they got WMD" They should have called it Entente or something like that.

What the hell is this? are these people fkd up? i don't like Apple, so i don't buy their products... period. If you don't like Apple practices do not waste your money in developing for their platform. They are de owners of their tech and they can allow whoever they want into their store. YOU ARE the one who needs to play by the rules or walk away, they are letting you into their platform to profit from it but heyyyy, you want more money because it isn't fair? You either increase the prices of the products you sell within their platform or you walk away, at the end of the day it is the customer who will decide if they want to be inside a closed platform or on what they spend their money on... BTW the dudes you are crying about Apple's practices are not selling Bread, they are selling commodities in the most closed, expensive and elite platform out there.

Spotify: one of the most greedy company in the music industry... I don't know if it is a great move.

Would be kinda neat if it were to pass. You could have a different marketplace on ios or android. But since they just want to lobby for legislature, I think that Apple and Google have far deeper pockets to do so. On the other hand, so did e.g. MS and they got slapped with a fine for selling OS with just their own browser.

There are other app stores for Android, they're just shit.

Google proved that sideloading the epic games APK was full of security flaws.

you already have numerous app stores for android, play store, amazon app store, samsung app store and many more. Plus with a single check mark enable unknown sources you can load any app you want. On ios you are screwed...

Hope they succeed, and after they do, I hope the government regulates both Epic and Spotify as well, harshly.

If consumer supports closed platform with his money, he gets what he paid for. Sorry, but big companies playing "We do this for consumer." card are fake. They always do this for consumer's money.
Indeed, having exclusive rights to distribute digital versions of PC games says it all. Also there is a bit more included with Apples fee than just providing a point of distribution, to be fair though, if Mr. big developer thinks he can do it all by himself Apple should let him without any support what so ever.

How do you fig that when in really they pay out more in music royalty to music industry (RIAA, BPI, BVMI and many other Country) and not forget there development team, employee cost. Keep in mind 33% out of $10 Apples get $3.30 every month for all iOS user that down load the app that sign up for the premium service, I believe the only around this is to used a web brower. Oh and soon that same tactic is going to apply Mac Laptop/Desktop product as make ARM transition switch from x86 so the apps created to run on the iOS platform will be able to run natively on ARM-powered Macs that give 100% monopoly across all there products.

Neat, I was only aware about sideloading.

No one really cares about Spotify. People use Youtube Vanced. If they really need to use Spotify they use free version, or *premium* account for 1$.

this is quickly becoming joke and it was already joke. iOS is closed the way it for reason if they just let everyone and anyone load there app on there platform this would get out control quickly from malware virus stand point. that one few things I like about iOS it not riddled with malware and virus like android. I use them both and to me using android is almost as bad as using windows in that department.

This is definitely not true. Spotify premium is a highly subbed platform.

I am sure that other company have the same cost in dev, employee, server etc... then how to validate that the premium is one of the most expensive, that they don't do studio HD audio quality... and so more. I wasn't talking about Apple but about Spotify. If you like to pay more for less, up to you 🙂

Well the obvious problem is that consumer choosing closed platform is making a choice which also affects the developer, not only himself. Of course the consumer knows nothing of this, as Apple also prevents developers from mentioning that the price includes 30% Apple tax. Even worse is, that if your service competes with Apple, you have to pay 30% Apple tax which Apple does not have to pay, making your offering quite much more expensive and hence less competitive.
