Pretty much overwhelming with the tech stuff, but very informative. I like how Sony does this compared to Microsoft. Looking forward to see the design of the console and controller next, and maybe a price ?

MY fat ps3 died after agout 8 years of service, I have slim ps3 atm, as for the coil whine in ps4 I dont know IF it is the psu I assuming it it cause if it coming from the mainboard or the SoC then they really cutting corners. But i know for the fact it is NOT the fan I hearing that making that noise. cause fan that can make "similar" noise stop isteantly or chain instantly depending what in on the screen. I think it will too which not good consider the price of 1TB is still upwards of 100$ if it propriety it just got more expensive, AND THAT DAMN LIGHTBAR need to be removed or option to TURN IT THE frack OFF I have electrical tape covering it just so i dont blind my self do to how i hold the controller, and you cant really eletrical tape the touch pad that has light bar in it too now, I dont have the version of controller yet though the battery is quite shitty though 1 6 hour session and the battery is pretty much dead. but sooner or later I gona need a new DS4 cause I think some buttons are starting to not trigger. ( maybe I should tell sony the DS4 control fried another 60$ sennheiser in ear headphones, last time I did that they told send DS4 in they want to test controller they sent me new DS4 back) Still would love to be able to play whole PlayStation library on the new system like the MS is doing, seeing I have so many of them I pretty sure it more then my entire PC library which spans 35+ years of physical copies of game (100+) and 150+ I have on steam and 30+ I have from GoG,Epic,Uplay and I mostly PC gamer yet I have more for consoles go fiqure.
Yeah they talked about the ps5 only using certified ssd drives, and i don't think any exist at present, but i expect that certification will also just bump the price up to proprietary prices........but i was not shocked about BC, i knew Sony would not drop PSNow, i had hope as i am also sitting with two decades of ps2/3 retail and digital, but i knew they would just not give it away free like MS do, although i was not expecting PS4 and Pro games NOT to be native on the PS5, that caught me out, so their ps4 bc program will have to author the ps4/pro games before they run on the PS5 correctly. Now we just need the price of both, i wonder who will drop first.

Could they have gotten a more boring dude to speak? *yawn*
Do you need picture books to understand technical information?

I do not buy that the ssd can replace ram in some cases therefore no need for more, although 16gb seems adequate.

Sony's approach is interesting but I hate the fact that they super cheap out on the GPU every time. This is a serious issue: Multi-port games will always be designed for the lowest common denominator and it'll be the PS5's laughable GPU every single time. Meaning we'll get shittier PC ports because Sony are Sony. Do I need to remind everyone that console generations last a minimum of half a decade? The XB360/PS3 era was what? 8 years? I can never be convinced that MS/Sony didn't horrendously cripple the gaming world for that era with their clown hardware that was obsolete soon after release. Well... Sony's was obsolete on release despite what hype children may have told you about the Cell CPU. The only silver lining is that it's unlikely to be 8 years again for the foreseeable future since x86 is x86. Gradually more powerful consoles with full backward compatibility shouldn't be an issue. That and I despise their hardcore censorship and exclusivity policies. MS announced that they will not be dicks with exclusives a while ago so I'm hoping a lot of XBSX games get PC releases around the same times as their console counterparts. MS also doesn't have a draconian censorship policy that I've heard of so far. Unlike Soyny, I haven't heard them declaring swear words and breasts as being the children of Satan.

RAD Tools always have awesome code. http://www.radgametools.com/oodlekraken.htm If those numbers are not just marketing drivel, then MC has clearly listened to developers and they have probably recommend RAD/kraken to him, to ease loading/unloading of data through compression. MC has done his homework, and I think this presentation was aimed clearly in the direction of developers. In short, I think the PS5 has the technical edge over XB. Although I also think, this generation will create the biggest arguments. I think XB and its design are a marketing nightmare, again, just like the always-on DRM/motion sensor/microphone/etc of the last gen of XB that screwed the pooch. XB is done, and, I think the sad part is that I think they know it. They know they can only be second place, so, are marketing this new XB as 'high concept marketing' which essentially means; you talk about big numbers and have floating glass objects over grand landscapes with a voice over...using abstract, evocative language. Microsoft's Marketing reminds me of this, and, before you even hit play, and, if you have seen this video before, you will know that I am right...

Sorry - but the new XB...is a horn on an $82,000 car that plays "La Cucaracha"

While I have never owned gaming console, I must say that this time around M$ did ask AMD to deliver some very nice features on HW level. (And I do not mean DX-R support.) It will perform well above average PC today. And considering what they have there, maybe same logic could in time apply to Windows. Like ability to dedicate 1C/2T for OS+drivers+I/O. Fast HW level compression of data is something we are not going to see soon on PC, yet it will deliver quite some improvements for XBox.
Agree. This is the first time we have seen all the next generation consoles stack up against mid range gaming PC's. I have a feeling this is going to start shifting the market from PC to consoles more. Are they really consoles anymore? I have this feeling high powered APU's are going to take PC gaming by storm over the next 5 years and most of us PC gamers will be running an APU by then as well. Think about it they have 5700XT level GPU's now in an APU, if you get densities down by say 2x(TSMC 3nm should do that) and power goes with it you can have better than a 2080 Ti in an APU.
