I think once prices come down a little, drives like this may very well be the nail in the coffin for HDDs. SSDs are surpassing in capacity by quite a lot now.

Have you noticed the trend in CPUs, GPUs and other high-tech chips ? Silicon production is not getting cheaper, actually, it gets more and more expensive. I have a feeling "flash NAND" SSDs will never come down in price enough to compete with HDDs at the same capacity. They will, however, get replaced with some future tech that is being developed in a lab somewhere, that will beat both NAND and HDD in price and capacity and speed and everything. But until then, get those kidneys ready for the operation !
