Another useless gimmick. Spend more time to make a longer lasting battery for example, rather than wasting time on stupid gimmicks.
my note 2 last a whole day....

It's funny because Moto did it before Apple.

The difference is..... Motorola actually did it first.... like... 2+ years before Apple. But yea, i could see Apple doing that. On a more logical note, though.... The whole idea of a fingerprint sensor on the BOTTOM of the phone doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to me. ESPECIALLY if you have to swipe your finger on it. Fingerprint unlock on the Motorola Atrix 4G wasn't always the easiest thing to use, and that was on the back at the TOP of the phone. Have to completely adjust how you're holding the phone in one hand if you were to even TRY to unlock it one-handed if the fingerprint reader is at the bottom.

And the NSAs finger print database grows exponentially.

Well, I can say for the Samsung phones at least that their batteries are never really rated for what they claim to be: It could say "3100mAh" and really be more the lines of "2200mAh". They need to partner with actual decent battery companies.
My sgs3 lasts for 2 days with the battery it came with, on normal usage. Of course surfing internets will eat it away especially on the move.

Samsung will be shipping the Galaxy S5 with a fingerprint sensor embedded in the device's home button similar to the one on Apple's iPhone 5s. In order to use the sensor, a user will have to swipe f... Samsung to implement fingerprint sensor in Galaxy S5

I agree with the others. They should rally work on new battery tech. And no i dont mean the extended batteries that they sell. I mean better efficiency and life on stock batteries as well. Other than that yeah my initial thought was when i read the article was. Oh look another apple lawsuit coming.

Protection of personal data stored on phones and computers/tablets isn't anything new. Face Unlock.... Picture Unlock (On Windows 8).... people want the most secure ways of keeping their data safe, and ESPECIALLY businesses want this. There isn't a whole lot that's more secure than a fingerprint. And if you're going to say "Because Apple did this Samsung want to".... why not first start by saying "Because Motorola, one of the biggest Android phone manufacturers did this 2 years before Apple did it, Apple wanted to have their shot" Motorola Atrix 4G : March 6, 2011 iPhone 5S: September 20, 2013 So it was actually a little over 2.5 years after Motorola's phone with a fingerprint reader. Apple isn't really THAT revolutionary when it comes to phones....

It isn't needed. Nor is facial recognition or any of this crap. People are so self important that they think their privacy matters. It doesn't and it's a myth anyways. All of your data is off in the cloud somewhere. You have no privacy. Who are these people locking their phone away from anyways? Most of this only seems useful for people who have infidelity issues or are just ashamed of who they are (maybe they like bizarre porn) on the phone. If you have (so called) sensitive data you are an idiot to carry it on your easily lost/stolen pocket computer. They need less gimmicks (such as this) and more useful features like the IR remote was on the GS4.

Why is the IR remote needed? Who are these people changing channels from their phones anyways? Most of this only seems useful for people who have laziness issues or are just ashamed of getting up and changing the channel manually. They need less gimmicks (such as IR Remotes) and more useful features like the FM radio on the GS1.
