Well it launched. https://www.xda-developers.com/samsung-launches-galaxy-s8-s8-specifications-price/ I'm kinda disappointed about the camera. I like the removal of the buttons, more room for the screen 😀 6.2" QHD+ 🤓
Same love the design. Using a pixel xl at the moment great phone but looks crappy compared to the Samsung range, I was expecting them to improve the camera kinda a let down but the overall design is Fantastic!

About the Same Size
This is getting a bit ridiculous with screen sizes.
Did you mean phone size? If that's the case, then I definitely agree with you. For the S8, though, the screen size is a bit bigger (they made it taller and shrunk the bezel to accommodate), but the phone itself looks to be roughly the same size. More screen real estate in the same form factor. I can live with that. 🙂

799 and 899 euro / £689 and £779 respectively means = 856.15 US Dollars and 955.56 US Dollars + Sales taxes + other taxes fcc etc... and we are looking at way over $1,000US Dollars mark after everything is said , done and paid for 😱 holly mother of Jesus. Samsung really has up the prices on their phones two times fold on the last few years. The screen resolutions on these phones are becoming insane... If we go by current research you won't even be able to see most the pixels on this screen making it useless and just drain your phone batter... With a dpi of 567 ppi and it being estimated that the max ppi the human eye can see is 300 (least by the studies I've found) these screens must just be pointless

I think most of these "The human eye can only see xxxx" are BS People still quote that the human eye can't distinguish frame-rates above 30 some days, other days it's 60 depending on the thread/argument
You're talking about FPS i'm speaking about resolution, the human eye must have a limit, and studies have found 300 PPI on 20/20 vision to be about the limit, though this might change for everyone. considering most monitors these days are around 100 PPI

I am so sad about back side fingerprint scanner. It is so hard to use it. Especially when your phone is lying just there. Give me that refurbished note 7 please. But I accept screen size is very good. Multi tasking is far better now on s8 series. Well done. And yet again Fingerprint magnet body..why? why? why?

Not impressive in the slightest, my mate 9 will stomp on it in terms of CPU and battery performance, heck DVFS is still there which means, you can never use your amazing phone speed to it's fullest, been always like that, throttle on purpose... S8 could have been much better, S7 camera at normal light was just ok in my opinion, low light was great, battery life was great but it will probably suffer now on intensive runs, unknown DAC quality, no stereo speakers....

Yes, there is definitely a limit, but it's not relevant here because VR users want as much DPI as possible. It is kinda understandable. Still it would be nice to know the DPI limit of human vision for VR usage, where your phone is only a few cm (like 5cm to be more precise) from your eyes.

Good watch/read if you have the time. Though I agree I don't know if there is a different ppi for VR as most studies are done from about a foot away where we would normally have our phones

Yeah, but the good thing is they kept s8 bellow 145mm, actually its 140mm and 2mm smaller then s7.

It's not that big though, the further away from a square the screen is, the smaller the surface area is relative to the diagonal measurement. This screen is much smaller than a 16:9 screen with the same diagonal measurement.

Not impressed by any S8, awful battery life, get all the greatest features just to have average battery life, meh. Mine Mate 9 battery life is phenomenal, while being performance monster without throttling on purpose, so much for so little.

I will as I've had my trusty S5 for two years so it will be a worthy upgrade
S5 finger scanner was ultra lame. S8 is probably more comfy than that.
