Selling blood now to fund this or the 7800X3D....

Probably a premium price for pre-orders. Hopefully prices after launch will be more reasonable.

Not just yet...wait for reviews - maybe it's a meh instead of wow and your blood deserves the best no?

Shame 7800x3d is the last one to be released. Cant wait for Hilbert review of one of these.

Could be..but from my knowledge kidneys are the usual currency for Nvidia cards no? https://i.imgur.com/NbZNUgg.png

Just a guess but scalpers are gonna have a field day with these chips.

Hardly - the platform is expensive, you need also a new motherboard and ddr5. I don't think so. Quite contrary, based on reviews and initial reception we could see a price drop fast like with the non x3d variant.

The problem is the MB prices, they are still terrible. Hopefully the X3D will rectify Zen4 overreliance on ram timing and speed, as the 5800X3D have done.

$25 over msrp is not that bad of an over price for a pre=order. I expected higher.

I bought asus prime b650 plus for 195eur. Prices are bad but not terrible.

Actual DDR5 Motherboard prices in Canada at my local computer store. No I did not check every motherboard sold but looks like AMD can price match the motherboards like Intel DDR5. These are 4 motherboards from Intel/AMD same brand/class

It's worse here, though i might get a small discount on X670E strix so i might opt for it if the 7950X3D will be worth the trouble.

There was a big price jump on motherboards when the AM4 x570 was released. They sated the increased cost was due to the build requirements of the PCIe 4.0 and the robust traces required. Is this the case with current motherboard prices? Typically prices fall as repeated tried and true production technology is used, such as the equipment used in the production of a motherboard.

Hopefully this will cause the 5800X3D to drop in price 🙂

This is my fallback or some best bang for the buck Intel build.

Would love to know how much faster this 7950X3D is over my 5950X with Premiere Pro 2022 Warp Stabilizer - had to use that there recently on 4K footage and it is a slow dog and pain to use - have to run it per clip manually - no all clips automatic option there it seems. So... click 1 minute clip, wait 2-4 minutes, repeat for all clips in timeline. I was able to run more than one clip at a time and that brought all 32 threads up to 100% usage... running one only at a time does not (maybe about 50%-70%). Would love to see how much longer this processing takes on a more consumer CPU with less cores!

3D cache has some obvious disadvantages though... like considerably higher core temps,
True, but can be mitigated to a certai point with PBO2 -30

higher power consumption in idle
This is false https://tpucdn.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-5800x/images/power-idle.png

and bigger range between low and high FPS (higher framerate variations).
Having a 5800X3D, one of the first things I noticed is that minimum frame rates are much higher. Bringing them closer to the average.

These hybrid CPUs (7900X3D and 7950X3D) will also bring another variable to the mix, which is software scheduling between CCDs. The performance will be there, but let's not get overexcited.
True, but only for the 7950 and 7900. The 7800X3D will have just one CCD. I'm curious and a bit concerned at how the windows scheduler will deal with 2 different CCDs.

Not getting excited until I see some reliable benchmarks. The cost of upgrade is really high here.

Actually, it is true. https://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=79021 This is false https://tpucdn.com/review/amd-ryzen-7-5800x/images/power-idle.png Having a 5800X3D, one of the first things I noticed is that minimum frame rates are much higher.
