hmmmm... I'm looking forward to upgrading my 5900x to a 7900x... But this time I'll try to be patient and wait for reliable reviews like Guru3D and GamerNexus before investing... I'll need to change the motherboard and add RAM DDR5, so the investment is getting much higher than my last upgrade (3900x to 5900x, same motherboard and RAM). When does the review embargo end?
Makes sense to me - even though both the 12900K and 7950X have 32 threads, a P core is more valuable than an SMT thread.
12900k has 24
maybe e-cores got a frequency improvement
I think that, alongside cache size improvement, will make them more useful than last gen e-cores,which weren't that bad really

Whoops I had a typo in my comment - I was talking about the 13900K (already edited it).
But yeah, I'm sure the E-cores are being bumped a bit.
EDIT:
Wow, 2 typos... I meant to say an E-core is better than an SMT logical thread.
Clearly, I didn't get enough sleep last night.
this is why they should have lead with the X3D chips
let them milk the overhyped fanbase first, then give the rest the real deal.im not upgrading now anyway, unless I can literally trade the 10700f for 13500.
Problem is AMD can't rely on a few enthusiasts and mostly 1080p gamers who are willing to buy the 7800X3D at, say $500-550.
Main bread and butter is the low-mid products.
Their motto for the presentation is also a bit shy "advance PC", not very confident.
And while nvidia is promoting 4k gaming and even 8k demos, also we get to see the first movie series in 8k (Lord of the rings), cpu producers are still beating the old crap at 1080p. lol

"Together we advance" is not for the Zen 4 launch, it is replacing the "old" AMD marketing brand (like you could see "Smarter choice" or "Where games begin" (for GPU) below the AMD logo before). "Together we advance_" is just their new "marketing brand", they only added "pcs" for the event.
Also you won't see the tv series in 8k for ring of powers because i think the show is in 4K and only the trailer is in 8k. And you may (if you're a Samsung customer with 8K TV) have access to some "behind the scene" in 8K, but not the whole show. At least that's what i understood.
And Samsung being there to promote their TVs, and Amazon not claiming anything openly on the 8K side, i am clearly leaning to Samsung marketing the 8K to promote their TV brand.

Yeah, I'll wait for those for sure. Enough time for the new mobos and their bioses to mature too until then. Had enough early adopter experiences with other platforms...

There is really no point in trying to compare CPU gaming performance at 4K or higher, GPU is always going to be the bottleneck there (unless you use a REALLY low-end CPU or weird graphics settings). In every CPU comparison, the performance starts to even out at 2K and is usually within margin of error at 4K. Also, most gamers still game on 1080p (around 67% per last Steam survey), so 1080p data is definitely still relevant.
