You know, maybe the situation would be a bit clearer without this constant rumour-hunting.

We'll all be glad when all this crap is finally over and all cards are released. What we can derive from all of this is that nVidia are shitting their pants.

Bring it on, the more the better.

Maybe Nvidia has enough suitably defective chips to recycle for the 3070 Ti? As it is otherwise, if Nvidia doesn't even have enough GPUs to satisfy 10% of the 3080 demand, it's kind of difficult to imagine they would still lower the 3080 numbers by diverting a good portion of the meager chip supply to a cheaper card. Maybe next year.

If it's indeed going to be 320 watt i pass. 3070 will serve me just fine fine then.

So just as the 16/20GB versions "died", the "Tis" are making a return. So many fictional cards on top of barely available "real" ones. lol...

There will definitely be a 3080ti. The xx80ti name has become a synonym for the best consumer level card, why would they throw this away? Once they've sold as many 3090s as they can, they will gimp it slightly, give it maybe 11gb VRAM and sell it as the 3080ti.

This is all fine and well, but how about getting the supply of 3xxx line cards already "available?" sorted??

''The xx80ti name has become a synonym for the best *consumer* level card'' The what now? lol.. No there wont be 3080 Ti, as 3090 is only 8 to 10% faster than 3080.. so 3080 Ti would be what, about 5% faster than 3080? Makes no sense at all..

Nvidia kinda boxed themselves in with 3080 and 3090, there isn't enough gap in terms of FPS and raw processing power to release a TI variant (roughly 15-20%) to sit somewhere in the middle, they can't make it 10% faster than 3080 or that would not sell well unless around the same money and that would mean no demand for the 3080. They can't make it faster than 3090 or that would kill demand for 3090, so the chances of a 3080 TI are slim to none from a logical and financial points of view. I don't think the geniuses from Nvidia thought this through when making these cards. My advice to you guys is just to sit on it for a while till Nvidia sorts this out, don't sell your cards and don't preorder, sit it out.
This! Historically the Ti model has been quite a nice step up from the normal model but like you say, adding a few % performance for a premium price would be weird and nVidia are already acting really weird with this release. No reason to go super weird imho.

I'll take a 3080 Ti please and thank you.

All I hope is that this is the kick in the nuts Nvidia needs and deserves. I feel like they are now in a panic as AMD could be finally catching up with their gpus. People talked shit about AMD with RX 470/570480/580/590 released and how they had to many gpus but holy hell Nvidia is all over the place now.

Fox2232:

More likely yields related than AMD related.
Hard to say for sure. There is decent sized gap between the 3070 and 3080, but unless it offers more VRAM, there isn't really a point of it other than to out-perform AMD. The 3070 should be capable of 4K gaming. The 3080 allows for higher frame rates, but its tight VRAM amount doesn't help future-proof it. So, what market could Nvidia possibly be targeting with a 3070 Ti?

I think this is the case. No point on wasting defective chips if you can still make use and sell them, not to mention Nvidia can´t keep up with the demand so they wouldn´t disable good chips to compete against AMD. Also a card with this specs and with a decent price could be interesting.
