So what's the release date?

5.5 GHz ? Insane clock. is it even possible?

I'm running a delidded 10900k @ 5.5ghz all core on watercooling, so I guess it's possible 😉 The 10900k is not hotter than my 3900x overclocked. Direct die helps Alot.

Pentium 4 Deja-vu.

Yes... But if i remember Pentium 4 lost the war against AMD... Intel had to change everything to get the Core CPU line, with people astonished that 2.0 gh that have more power than 3,8 gh in this time , and take back the lead... Maybe they need to apply the same solution...

sure it's possible, if they do this just for 1-2 cores. Still the important question is for how long and how much power will this sip.

I remember switching from an Athlon 3800+ OCed to 2.75GHz to a Pentium 4 HT 3.8GHz, just for my games to become slower. Good times 😀

It all makes sense now , Cryo coolers , 300 TDP , and soon 5.5 maybe 6ghz. That cycle again , ATHLON vs NETBUURST 😀

At that speed what R20 single score do you get? Rocket Lake is supposed to be at least 10% more IPC ( the claim is double digit ) so that would indicate the speed of the rocket Lake in that test.

Intel WTF... Still 14nm I have seen 5.6 close to 600 on Cinebench 20.

rocket lake? boring. it runs hot, it runs loud, need to void warranty to delid, and melts if you run prime95, you need exotic cooling, bad IPC, and still not an answer for productivity. need 5.6ghz just to match zen 3 4.9ghz boost? zen 3 respects TDP very rigidly and will actually have sane temperatures in prime95. dont need to delid. boost behavior is more developed, and you can actually use mediocre cooling and it will still behave very well, even with the full 16 core part (i would know, i have 5950x and a really bad chinese cooler. it didnt overheat unless i turned on PBO which is warranty voiding overclocking). sure, rocket lake MIGHT be better at pure gaming, but at what cost? and i'm not talking about price tag. zen 4 releasing in early 2022 and intel wont have an answer to that since they only have a die shrink planned

Considering it has not been released yet you seem to own a Tardis to be able to state all that about it accurately.....

Depending on how much you overclocked the 3900x ... How hot is this the 10900k on 5.5? And what kind of watercooling? You also have got a great die, that does not make the 10900k a chip that run cool.

The new cooler now makes sense, so you will have a CPU at 250w (or more) with a cooler that needs at least as much to keep it cool, I call Intel clutching at straws to ensure they stay at the top of some irrelevant 2-15 FPS, wrap all that in a 10-7nm node then lets see how good the Engineering is

Clock rates are not the answer to anything, did intel lay off the guys responsible for merom?

Intel is basically brute forcing at this point.
