Wow, that backplate really sucks up the heat. Is it thinner than usual? Great review as always.

I love the names some of these companies come up with..."Super Jetstream," indeed....;) How about "Hypersonic Hillbilly," or "Hurricane Vortex" or "Black Hole Event Horizon"...? Possibilities are endless...!

Good product, cool & silent combined with good overclocking! What do you reckon, just as good as the Amp! product when overclocked, but not as noisy, and temps similar IIRC.

Also don't like these 'dump the heat in your case' coolers!
Me too, it's just plain stupid.

Obviously it's a trend among manufacturers in past few years, every single one of them has it's line of Super-Ultra-Turbo-whatever called graphic cards or mobos. These days young gamers are probably geting horny on all these flashing signs on retail boxes so if that's gonna increase sales why not use some bombastic names. For old gamers it doesn't matter but for new age gamers obviously it does matter. For us old fart gamers probably we can expect some manufacturer to use something like MILF edition, lol: Motherboard I'd Like to "whatever"

Keep in mind that your Asus GTX 970 Strix is using same 'dump the heat in your case' solution, lol It's not stupid when you have propper airflow inside case so I don't see that as a problem. IMHO Palit's Super JetStream line of GPU's are very nice and reliable choice in past two years.

And that's the point, lol.

actually, heatsink fins orientation on his gtx970 is oriented in such a way that the air is pushed along the card and to the back (and possibly front) while this palit has fins that will push the air sideways. So it's not the same. But, I doubt that there is any significant difference between the two systems because they are both open all over the place. Nothing major tho, you can push the hot air out pretty quickly with and extra case fan on top or on the back of the case.

true but noise is also more pronounced since card is outside...Also, you can vent the case and gain even better temps than on the bench table (depending on the bench table setup of course)

No kidding...;) I remember this one product box from 15-20 years ago--can't remember the name of the company--I think it might've been Asus--anyway, the package contained a $300 GPU, and on the front of the box was the head/face of a 6-8 year old boy, his hair sticking straight up like he had his finger stuck in a light socket and his eyes as big a saucers..! I thought, "Now what the heck does that have to do with a 3d card???" I could only conclude that the opinion of the marketers in the country designing the boxes was that apparently all North American children were rich and were the primary market for these cards...! (Not hardly!) That stuff is just too funny at times...:)
