Will there be stock on release? (in europe) For 30XX had to wait a month to get the card despite day one purchase.

BTW, just remembered that Intel decide to have the release of their Arch GPUs, on the same day as the RTX 4090. 😀
And did anyone even buy them? 😀

According to rumors stock levels will be really great. I've checked a site or two who display stock numbers and all their AIB cards will have 100+ stock so that looks great. And if you factor in that fewer people will buy them than those who bought the 3080 when it was released, I guess it won't be difficult to get one. One can assume that scalpers wont hoard these ones and there is no cryptomining.

Great performance, OK RT without DLSS and disastrous price in this period of time. 4080 might be less impressive than we have thought or maybe more, price inflate the equation too much. Can't shake the feeling that newer games, such as UT5.1+ with RT will make it crawl without DLSS.

and lower avg/peak power than 3090ti/6950xt
Yes, I don't know how they did it. Clearly there is something here, maybe TSMC injected some digital awesomeness in the silicon wafers or Nvidia had a real breakthrough with this architecture - something that they choose not to say yet... But it is impressive. Also the temperatures are low so the cooling design on the FE is maybe too much - possibly 2 1/2 - 3 slots cards from AIB?

Not gonna lie, I kinda want one - and I'll eventually get one, just not at this ridiculous price.

really impressive, now give me a 500eur card that smashes 3080Ti in raytracing and has dlss3 on top of that. who cares about 2000eur cards.
If we are lucky, 4050 will smash 3060 in RT and cost only 500 euros.

AIB prices in EU are roughly €2200 at the moment (only 1 shop listed though).

Raptor Lake with 2x of L2 cache and much higher clock speed should add additional 30%-40% performance lift at 1080p/1440p over this 5950x used for this 4090 review.
I think that with this monster you won't need a CPU. It could run by itself your OS, software AND games. Just put some USB ports on it and some expansion slots for additional cards like sound, etc and that's it.

Anyone know if the bang for buck page uses the new 6950 xt price rather than the old. The 4090 is super impressive though!

In my opinion this is a pretty bad product. Performance wise is a good leap ahead but other than that it is overall bad product.
Did you miss the part where we finally have a GPU that can play high refresh at 4K with high/ultra settings? The only thing bad about it is the extortionate price.

Got to say.. In a world in which AMD releases its new CPUs with 15-20% perf. improvements gen to gen (5900x->7900X), it impresses me to see Nvidia managing to get such a performance gap between generations.

Hilbert Hagedoorn:

I've experienced a little with it in MSFS, mainly limiting the power limiter to 50~60% hovering at 300 Watts; it did cost half the performance roughly ... other than that I have not had the time to check any further as there are five other RTX 4090 reviews pending and worked on.
I have only found one review that did it. Actually, rather impressive at 250w limit its beating a 3090 Ti at 3DMARK. TDP-Skalierung: 250 bis 550 W - Seite 10 - Hardwareluxx

Well, being very direct, what a beast at 4K, a big jump in performance. At lower resolutions is impossible to have good metrics because is bottlenecked. Lets now combine this performance with new Game Engines like Unreal 5, or others, and create really great games.

Don't compare apples and oranges. FYI, the top RDNA3 series are MCM cards.

Well, as it was discussed in another topic, time to move to my parents basement... https://i.imgur.com/LjPmcNw.png
