Haha called it, was telling people that the 2080S wasnt going to be as big as 2070S was to 2070 and some people were thinking it was going to be "2080Ti like" 🙄

Hilbert you mention a few times how 2080S is faster and cheaper but isnt any cheaper at all. It have the same 700$ price tag as original and thats FE, something like asus strix will carry a price premium. If i bought a 2080 last year i would be meh, 9% faster for a year of waiting. Isnt worth pulling the hair out. To be honest one should just get 2070S and save 200$.

What a pointless card, the 2070 Super is the way to go, as thats 2080 non Super performance.

Hmm, unless I am wrong the RTX 2080 was 799 at launch for the FE edition. I'll doublecheck though.

Yep, if I had known 6 months ago that the Super would be out I would not have waited for it. And yes, the 2070S at this stage would be the more obvious choice.

Yeah I am right, so the RTX 2080 AIB card started at 699 and the Founder editon was priced 799 USD.

@skar One is GPU score only and other one is the total score.
i see. thanks for clarifying!

As others have mentioned, the value doesn't seem to justify this card given the performance of the 2070S - especially given they have the same amount of memory.

[Quote]So if you bought an RTX 2080 last or this year, yeah sorry man .. it sucks to be you. No offence but this is not the type of writing I would expect from a reputable review site.

I just read that, lol. Agreed, not expected (nice review otherwise HH). Those who have had the cards long enough got their worth out of them. Secondly, it applies to nearly all GPUs depending on when you bought one and how soon something else better, cheaper comes out after it. Will it suck to be a 2080ti owner if a 3080ti comes out in 6 months? Or a RX590 owner after 5700 a few months later, etc?

Never realized that would be seen as offensive. I'll rewrite that a bit.

HH , even thou the writing was perfect, I am sorry that some ppl get offended by every little word that is there ... I am afraid in a few years we will all be little sheep with no word to say ! I undersend @anthos but why we always need to apologize for something . As far as the review goes , same opinion 2700S is the better road . Hope I have't offended anyone now ! . ... Have all a grate night

A measly 8-9% increase wouldn't be enough to cause any regret. Surely a small OC on the 2080 would close that gap considerably. I'm with everyone else here, the 2070S seems to be the best performance/price ratio card available right now.

I understand that you didn't do it with a malicious intent however it is difficult to give you pass on that and I ll tell you why. In 2019 you reviewed a 2080 card and you gave it the "Guru3d recommended" badge. Someone out there might have trusted your opinion and went with it. Then a few months down the line he reads from the same person that if he bought a 2080 - within the timeframe you yourself advised him to - then it "sucks to be him". That immediately insults him and destroys any credibility he has towards you. Anyway again it is not meant to be a jab against you, but I wanted to advise you of the way it could be perceived and the impact it could have. p.s my card is an nvidia 610 just in case anyone starts to wonder different things...

This card matches my 980 Ti SLI. Will be upgrading next gen though 😀

LOL, would be a sorry state if writing reviews had to be done with the same care a politician has to do when releasing statements. I seriously doubt anyone who is familiar with Hilberts light-hearted writing style would be offended. Having said that, the reviews go out beyond the forum, to a world-wide audience. This imo is more important as far as the wording is concerned. G3D is viewed as a serious and reputable site and here wording can influence perceptions on that front.

BAH, it's not such a big deal, we all make our own choices here with regard to what we buy & when, it's not anyone else's responsibility, and besides no one really knows exactly what NVidia and AMD plan to release & when. On a practical level I don't think RTX 2080 owners would have buyers remorse, as this product is only 9% better. It's possible that RTX 2060 & RTX 2070 could have a little remorse, given that the super versions of both of those cards are more like 20 percent faster (and cheaper? can't remember). But, then again, buying any of the Turing GPUs was a bit of monetary value nonsense if you already had a Pascal card.

lol I wouldnt worry too much about it.. everyday you wait to upgrade there will always be something newer, better, faster? out there regardless of price. What would "suck" is if you bought a non-Super card for full price before the Super and you're not within the return window... or what sucks more is if you bought a 2070 at $500+ and the 2070 Super being a bigger bang for your buck upgrade comes out at the same price point. If you bought it when it first came out (like I did) who cares as long as you had fun playing games with it and enjoying yourself making your money's worth. I'm still happy with my card, still chugging at stock boost speeds lol: https://www.3dmark.com/spy/7889501

No man, you tell it like it is. Great review. Son, I am disappoint. I really thought this was going to be closer to the 2080ti and might be worth an upgrade over the 1080ti but not for 8-12 fps at UW1440p., no way. A three year old card and the only real upgrade will cost $1200, what a bummer. If someone is looking for a new card now with an older card this is great news though!
