XenthorX:

That's expensive for a membrane keyboard
These are magnetic , you can modify when they actuate

I got excited by the new keyboards and went down a bit of a rabbit hole, anyway I did the 'fit a foam layer and tape' on the inside of my Ducky 1 sf and it does sound better, less clacky more thocky than before 🙂 I've also ordered a set of rubberized keycaps, my gaming fingers will like them I hope 🙂

... you can modify ...
... and you still get wrecked by some kid who plays the game 16 hrs /day because he has nothing better to do with his life. All the ultra-high-end peripherals are idiotic and provide no benefit at all vs a decent but relatively cheap classic mechanical keyboard. I paid $60 for my first keyboard with Cherry MX keys. Still works today just fine. The only reason I'm not using it is because it has no RGB...

Mr.Wave, I think this is a similar argument as buying a Bentley or whatever. You get from point "a" to point "b", same as you would do in a budget Honda civic or a nominal toyota camry. This is about having a supposedly 'premium' product, paying most of the extra groshen for the brand it carries.

No not for the brand, for the superior product and there is a difference believe me

Of course I will get beaten by that kid, my reflexes at almost 73 can not compete with those of a hyped up sugar/caffeine laden kid, but better tools close the gap somewhat. I also play with mouse and keyboard and we are at a distinct disadvantage against the aim assist that the console /controller player have, so fast light mice and specialist mouse pads all make it a bit more level. The RGB part is the least essential, mine does all sorts of silly stuff, but it stays on white after the first few moments of testing when you first get a new keyboard

Does it warrant 10x the premium?

Well that's the thing, the comparison isn't exactly fair. First of all, that Honda civic is nowhere near close the performance of the Bentley. It's much slower, less comfortable, noisier, and so on. With keyboards, we've already reached pretty much "Peak Keyboard" in 1985 with IBM Model M mechanical keyboard whose design is still being used for most mechanical keyboards today. https://i.rtings.com/assets/products/ZDmfP7qT/ibm-model-m/design-medium.jpg There's really not much left to innovate. The only thing that was improved in the past 40 years from this design is slightly less typing noise (those were quite clanky) Tbh, I wish they were still produced... I would gladly replace all the modern chinese plastic junk produced today with one of those. They are, unfortunately, hard to find and expensive, and you need an adaptor to connect to a modern PC. So, with keyboards, the Civic already does 95% of what the Bentley does. The rest of 5% is just a gimmick, not providing any tangible benefits.

You get speed & comfort & quietness, some people buy expensive golf clubs, I like computer stuff and I appreciate the difference my nice toys make to my enjoyment of life as well as improving my gaming performance

Why not

I am not a keyboard connoisseur, but I do own 2 Keychron V1 keyboards, one for home use, one as a back up. At work I got a zowie celeritas 2. I also have leftovers from years before like the logitech G Pro and a steelseries 6Gv2. So I have overspent for no reason on keyboards. And this Asus keyboard is ludicrous. You can get SO MUCH for that money. I would say that 500 dollars it has to have precious metals or it has to be some stupid limited edition league of legends strimer girl signed it type of bullshito.
