why aren't they doing that extra dual sided m.2 "dimm" anymore ? I liked it a lot.

'' it's priced at a level that makes me want to vomit,'' He actually wrote that. 😀

Finally ASUS understood that some (a lot) of cases today come with 4 USB 3 ports and two cables so it offers two connectors for front panel USB 3... The price is hair raising. One competitor for this board could be GIGABYTE X670E AORUS MASTER and it costs 500 USD...MSI also has offers in the same region... Why buy this board?

That existed on the previous gen Hero board as well. Also as someone that bought a dark hero almost 2 years ago, many times I questioned myself whether it was wise to get it. And that was for a board that's literally half the price of this. Bonkers to raise the price by 100% on the same tier board within a generation.

No it doesn't. I had one - I don't think that you understand - I am talking about those connectors for cables from the case NOT 2.0 but 3.0. https://i.imgur.com/KkaX9Um.png

I thought it more from the MB POV than the case because they do technically have 2 USB3 I/O. Mine for example has 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Front Panel connector (U32G2_5) and 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 header (U32G1_1011). Both of them are USB3. But one is for connecting type-A while the other type-C. So you end up with 2x A and 1 C on the case. But yeah I guess if you are talking about 4 type-A in particular then this might not be the best because even though you can achieve it (adaptors) you lose backwards compatibility.

Gigabyte had them since X570 and that's a reason why a sold the Dark Hero board and since my cases are with four USB 3 front connectors and usb 3.2...anyway, good for ASUS that with X670 are offering them too...the only positive aspect from me...price is from another reality. https://i.imgur.com/sCtxWDM.png

After seeing your post, i actually searched it in the review. And thanks Hilbert for revolting in your own way. The reason behind this not-even-justified-to-tag-as-an-absurd-pricetag "pricetag " i think is the mining fiasco that has just ended. Their already endless greed felt that extra itch to push us the customers a little bit further. Well this time , a little bit too further . These stupid companies are in denial regarding what the world economy is going thru right now.

And its even cut down version compared to last gen Hero/Dark Hero, they removed 3rd ful lenght PCI-e slot and 2nd network port. Both of which is big NO from me. There should be two network ports and one of them 10g if they want to make that price at least remotely acceptable. I went thrould all boards from MSI, Asus, Asrock, Gigabyte and only two remotely acceptable are MSI "god like" and Extreme from Asus, but they had to add so much garbage to it and put it to unacceptable price. So for me it seem I will be stayin on Dark hero and 5950x until next next gen.

Is the VRM section noisy?

Last Asus Hero MB I got was a z370. I believe it was just under $300 after that all Heros were $400+. The MSI board I have now was $600+ but I got it on sale for $300 even. The number 1 thing I hate about Intel is they ditch chipsets in 2 years or less.

Yup 300-400€ is max for Hero IMhO 😀 GJ H.H. Note: They need to understand that mining/scalper prices are OVER !!!

Funny thing is, miners would not touch those motherboards, too much expensive and too little PCI-e slots 😀

Dang ! That is a very high price for a Hero 😏, things are getting out of hand sadly ...

Tell me about it. It's more expensive than my Rampage Black X99 which could do quad Crossfire and quad SLI. These prices are becoming a joke. I honestly have no idea who they think they will sell these to. I know it won't be me, that's for sure.

Oh my.. did you see the latency of the ram? A ddr5 6000 cl30 @68ns, and not to talk about the slower one 84,7ns? I can go make me a coffee, and come back before the cpu finishes to talk with the memory haha
