Isn't that the CPU utilization issue after the 21.3.x drivers, at least it's better than the 5000 series had where the CPU utilization also had to be good or the GPU clocks dropped. (Particularly D3D9 though AMD improved that in later drivers.)

I have 6900XT and in Warzone I had to upscale my resolution to 5120x2160 ( I have 3440x1440 ultrawide), because when playing on native res I have over 130-150 FPS and every few seconds there is a frametime spike cause a stutter. In that moment clocks drop to a little over 1000Mhz or below. When playing on upscaled resolution I have around 90 fps and it is smooth, clocks stay high 2300-2400. I have 3900X overclocked with ClockTuner to 4,4GHz when gaming.

It's problem with keeping up the clocks . You can counter this with profile, they tried ? Had this issue with DIABLO 3 , i manged to fix it with manual clocks on profile for game. That said when i switched to 5600X ( from 3300X) problem solved by itself , so i guess it is driver issue with DX11 which is very much know , cpu bottleneck is huge there. Problem is the same on Ryzen 5000 ??

Exact same issue i have had for a long time when playing Fortnite , old dx9 games or some 3dmark benchmarks , monitoring the clock behaviour in gpuz shows clocks dropping from 2400Mhz to 500Mhz~1000Mhz on my 6900xt + 5950x cpu , same using Intel 10900k cpu 😏. AMD need to fix this issue with the massive downclocking on their gpus.

Try with manual profile for given game/app . Fixed FPS issue on Diablo 3 ( drops from 300 to as low as 70 fps ).

Can someone explain to them why you don't need 400 fps, specially if you don't own a 400 hz monitor? But ya, an issue is an issue and needs fixing.

Not in my experience. I don't know about 60hz, haven't had that in ages -- but at 120/144hz playing CSGO at ~250+fps and there is no tearing on any of the last several monitors I've had. Granted I haven't played CSGO in like 4+ years so maybe it's different now but yeah.. I had over 2000+ hours logged into that game probably double that with Source, never played with V-Sync on, always forced the game into ultra low graphics state to get way above refresh rate. I never had a problem with tearing.

If you have 144hz gsync monitor and playing at 250fps then you are just out of range and making your monitor useless. Makes no sense what your saying. Thats why high refresh rate monitors exists.

More frames = less system latency High refresh rate monitors are also have much less noticeable tearing.

Yes but there are drawbacks like i said. You need to stay in your gsync/freesync range. Gsync 144hz - 144fps = no tearing, low latency Gsync 144hz - 250fps = tearing, low latency

Higher refresh monitors help, especially if you are vsyncing - but having a framerate higher than the max refresh rate of the monitor lowers input lag. This is a known thing, especially to pretty much all competitive gamers. That's why most of us set the graphics to literally nothing (also for visibility in most games).

If the frame rate is high enough, the tearing shouldn't be all that noticeable. That's a big "if" though. But, it is true that a higher FPS makes a difference in latency, at least when we're talking <=60Hz displays. Once you get to 120Hz+, I really don't think unlocking the frame rate is going to yield any noteworthy difference, especially to the average person or wannabee pro. I have a very hard time believing anyone who thinks they can notice a difference in latency between vsync on and off at 120Hz+, and, actually performs better (as in, winning) as a result. The only people I would believe are those who end up in professional broadcasted e-sports. Personally, I'm not a competitive gamer so I'd rather keep vsnc on and not burn so many watts.

This is exactly what "Enhanced Sync" is for. The game runs full speed as if V-sync was turned off, but the driver will only switch the last sent frame to the screen during V-sync. No tearing, and the same latency as with V-Sync off.

Even on a 60hz monitor, more than 100fps feels smooter in many games. Like in the old days with Battlefield 3, and under 80fps felt "stuttery". Over 100fps was smooth as butter. This was with 60hz monitor without g-sync. You can "feel" it when you are playing...
