I'd actually be curious to see a Hairworks On/Off comparison -- the tessellation performance should be better, negating the impact Hairworks has on AMD hardware.

1060 is rumored to be released the 7th, which is fast enough -- the issue is whether or not they will be able to supply it. The 1060 is a different chip and will have a cut down version at a cheaper price.
Dont you think there would some more info/performance leaks if the card is that close? They also need some hype not just silent release. Who knows, maybe its all just rumor, maybe nvidia don't have squat.

I think everyone in any market should be concerned with at least 60fps. I thought that was a given. The experience is much more fluid and enjoyable at a steady 60fps. Even HH recommends that in all his reviews at the beginning. In regards to this being new tech, I don't think that is a reasonable argument either. By the time the majority of games start taking advantage of the new features available in this card it will be horribly obsolete. You must be trolling lol.
What HH states in every review: Frames per second Gameplay <30 FPS Very limited gameplay 30-40 FPS Average yet very playable 40-60 FPS Good gameplay >60 FPS Best possible gameplay http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_radeon_r9_rx_480_8gb_review,9.html I have no issue @ 40-50 fps. And not all games behave equally, ie, RPGs, slow paced games handle lower FPS better than fast paced games.

I don't see why they'd need hype. They never teased/hyped any of their other midrange stuff. Hell the first Maxwell card was a 750Ti and it showed up out of the blue one day, no one even knew the 750Ti was coming, let alone Maxwell.

Very good review but a very bad card . Louder , power hungry , slower than expected. Is on par with 2 years old 970 but can't touch 980 not to mention 1070 or 1080. Has a phenomenal overclocking potential of 5% hahhahaha . My 970 is running at 1450 Mhz and in full load tops out at 84 degrees, it can run 1500 Mhz but temp is going to hit 90 degrees and I prefer not to do that. So overclocking potential for maxwell is in the 35-40% range. At 1450 MHz 970 will beat this card overclocked in almost all games . In SLI rx480 can't beat even a single gtx 1070 in most of the games, for me is just garbage this card and a BIG disappointment from AMD
You're wrong. Nothing exists atm that can touch it on price. Its a winner... by virtue of price only.

AMD, I love the fact that you never dissapoint us with your products. Again you have held your rumors and commercialising to be true when your card was released today and tested. It performs exactly as you have been telling us for the past 2-3 months it will. AMD, you are a peoples champion because you do not lie like competition does as far as performance/price goes and now with last two generations FPS consistency goes. And that is the most important part in todays economy. Your Radeon RX 480 is performancewise inbetween GTX 970 and GTX 980, but leaning more towards GTX 980 performance....and this is with BETA drivers. When normal drivers progress, I am sure performance will rise to equal the GTX 980. GTX 980 is still 500 E and more (depending on model) in my country. The closest Amazon is German, where it is 423 E plus shipping that gets us to roughly to 480-490 E. My Asus GTX 970 Strix was 380 E in November 2014 when I bought it in my country. Then it rose above 400 E for no reason. Now is stil 357 E in my country or 289 E on Amazon.de plus shipping and it gets us to roughly 340 E. Those are real prices for every country in EUROPEAN UNION. The prices some of NVIDIOTS are posting are not real because they don't include VAT and are nowhere to be found in EUROPE. NVIDIOTS are liyng on almost every forum when they are posting quazi prices they can get their precious cards. Nvidia ****ed the whole GTX 9xx series with their maxwell technology, which caused GPU stuttering on every model, except GTX 750 / 750 Ti. But GTX 9xx series can be used correctly using NVIDIA INSPECTOR program, where you can use "apply defaults" for your GTX 9xx to use 100% frequency of your GPU/RAM at least for a certain amount of time. But on GTX 1070 / 1080 that doesn't work anymore. I've bought my MSI GTX 1070 on amazon, but I have returned it in one weeks time, because it had major problem with GPU stuttering thus inconsistend FPSs....i never reached 152 FPS in 1080p in GTA 5(without antialiasing)....more like 80-90 was the max i could get, on average 60-75 FPSs. And then there was major HEAT....my MSI GTX 1070 was supposed to be cooler than FE edition. But the reality was that the card was hot as hell and I could get it cooled properly only if I reved FANS manualy to at least 75 % of speed. In my lifetime I've owned many cards from both manufacturers....but never have I had such annoying and almost unsolvable problems that I have with my GTX 970 from last year and that I've had with my MSI GTX 1070. Nvidia had major problems in the past, expecially with GTX 500, GTX 600 and GTX 700 series with "coil whine" due to poor cooling and too high of RAM frequency. But that was solvable with constant fan spinning or refunding your card for a new one. But what have they done with last years GTX 9xx and this years GTX 10xx series....well this is just A BIG FAIL. Luckily I got a refund for my MSI GTX 1070 and I will be selling my ASUS GTX 970....and I am definitely going back to RED team and I will buy RX 480 8 GB which will be around 280-290 E in my country. And it destroys my GTX 970 and GTX 980 🙂 !!!! BRAVO AMD, YOU ARE A TRUE PEOPLES CHAMPION AND DONT WORRY THERE ARE MORE OF US THAT RESPECT YOU THEN THERE ARE NVIDIODS THAT ARE TRYING TO BASH YOU WITHOUT EVER OWNING AND TRYING ANY OF YOUR PRODUCTS.
LOL. First post fail if I ever saw one 😀.

AMD fanboy... go to buy rx480 then , come here when your MB will be broken , and share with us the feeling ... how a 150W card can consume 100 W from pciex slot
Read before posting? Where on earth did you get that the RX480 would be an upgrade? AT best is was going to be on par with it, and it is. Mainstream product at performance of last generation's high-end level. High-end is Vega which has yet to be released. This launch is a success because of price and the fact it delivers on its promise. This is a laptop chip pushed to its limits. Comprehend the market this product is addressing. It was never targeted at the market you are presently a member of.

More power to you then. This sounds like it will be a great card for you. I play mostly shooter games so I like my frames as high as possible while still being able to turn up the eye candy. It's my hobby and I don't mind paying more for that. My 1080 won't be the best performer in 6 months time and I will probably upgrade. Some would consider that a waste of money, but I love having a decently fast build and upgrade when I feel the performance increase is worth it. Different strokes for different folks.

Well said ^^ People seem to forget that these days.

I'm a bit underwhelmed by the power consumption. I expected lower. It's above 1070 for less than 980 performance. 🙁 It still overclocks above 980 which is 300/350 euros right now, for 240euros, it's a nice product.

...the weakest NVDIA card that is VR ready is ofcourse gtx 970...and I was hopping rx 480 will be a better performer, not to mention Firestrike results, but I was wrong...is my opinion , you don't have to agree with me
It is a fact that the weakest VR card Nvidia has is the 960.

The big problem for AMD is the next 3-4 months. Till then, they have nothing to offer that matches 1070/1080 performance. Those looking for a sub-300$ car should be happy, but above its hard to resist not going Nvidia. Oh well, the next big wait, Vega. Lets see some aggressive prices if performance can match/beat 1070 and I may be in.

Just to update... I just received in e-mail the XFX RX 480 OC 1328Mhz with backplate is USD 270! And in a few days when the market will be stocked the prices will match the USD 240 for the reference version. Again, the best option for today to get this performance. The only problem at all is this poor cooler system... that will be solved with the custom versions and it will get great overclock ability. NICE CARD!

Two of theses bad boys in x-fire, oc them, basically on par with the highest top dog that nvidia has to offer or maybe better at this time and much cheaper too to boot, Would love to see x-fire results on these bad boys. Well done, AMD, WELL F'in DONE!!!! http://www.reactiongifs.com/r/shia.gif Now, Here comes Vega, This is going to be awesome folks, you better believe it.

very nice review. i like the very wide game choice this time! and the 3dmark oc graph 200-250$ for a card that settles around 980, Nano, Fury, 390X 400-500$ for it in crossfire that beats single GTX1080 by far i cant stop laughing at all the people who tried to badtalk this card. (and still try to) http://i.makeagif.com/media/10-02-2015/xShB_5.gif
Amen, Despite the fact that its far from being the best single gpu, this is more aimed towards med range area, and I think AMD doing a job well done in this dept.
