not good, I just clean installed windows 1809 on uncles pc which is "home" I guess it going right on to "meter" connection. I think my system will stay on 1803 for time being, as I have no interest in redoing it with clean install of anything atm

To stop this crap:
gpedit.msc > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Data Collection and Preview Builds >
"Allow Telemetry" = Enabled, "0 - Security [Enterprise Only]"
"Disable pre-release features or settings" = Disabled
Windows Components > Windows Update > Defer Windows Updates >
"Select when Feature Updates are reveived" = Enabled, "Current Branch for Business"
You can also stop any kind of windows update automation here:
taskschd.msc > Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > UpdateOrchestrator
Disable anything you dont like the look of.

But I'm sure you can just switch to Arch or Manjaro repos and you'll probably be fine.
lol not sure if the XP VM is a POS as in "point of service" or... the other one.
Or both.
For that purpose, I think Debian would be fine. Seems like one of those things where you want to just set it up and don't touch it, which Debian stable is ideal for.
Also, it seems you're going to have to double-up your search for alternatives because you might not want to be sticking with Antergos either:

Debian for stability for a POS point of sale.
Antergos closing shop, man this took me by surprise. But I am somehow distro agnostic by now, so thanks for the tip.

From the article that Heavy posted:
This makes this such a none issue. How does one properly access System Restore differently than this? It is just a matter of individuals needing to learn how to properly use the software they are using.

I just checked Control Panel/Programs and Features(not shown) but checking Settings/Windows Updates/View Update History and i have two KB4494441, one installed on the 14th and one on the 15th of May.
I also think it's been updated since then because my Version number is now 17763.504 and not .502 or .503 like it says in the article https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4494441/windows-10-update-kb4494441
I find it strange that both times kb4494441 installed successfully. I never suffered any issues from it mind you but it's still weird it's listed twice on two different days.

This is far beyond sad at this point. But thank god i didn't booted up Win10 in a year or so.
