cheaper than expected, that said the "super fast ssd" marketing plan fell flat when I saw the game trailers before the reveal of the console, most looks really bad except ratchet which looked "E3-fied" so definitely not what we'll play

You don't know what you are talking about because you can only see so much in a game trailer. Also it will take some time for some of the devs to be able to use the PS5's hardware to it's fullest potential. Look what happened to the PS3 it took the devs several years to be able to use the PS3's hardware properly.

sure is better than knack, you're right but remember this came after the "omg so beautiful unreal engine" so even tough I knew it wouldn't be that great I still felt disappointed shouldn't do that kind of thing, show something unrealistic and then "here's your console release games, they look ok"

I actually must disagree slightly, yet I do understand your point. The time it will take to 'get the most' out of the system will be negligible, unlike prior systems (looking at you, PS2!) because the hardware is already fully understood. Regarding UE5 and UE4, Epic Games have already said that UE4 project can be migrated 'seamlessly' to UE5...this means a developer from 2013 would have the chance to update an entire project/game from UE4 to UE5, and compile it for PS5. So, to clarify: every game that has been released (crossplatform) using UE4, can now use UE5 and UE5, will compile to PS5. That, is a huge reduction in workload - not just for PS5, but Xboxy trashcan air purifier, too.

Oh thanks for the info. I think I remember hearing about UE4 projects being able to migrated into UE5 somewhere.

Migrated or ported ? Now with UE4 there are a lot of different versions, and not everything works for different versions. Thats why when a game comes out , it will never have one of the latest UE4 versions.

Project migration. cite Furthering that point on 'different versions', you can migrate entire projects from 4.0 to 4.25 quite seamlessly. Working in the engine is very nice, whenever you do something wrong, it does become quite the interfering mother-in-law, and tell you what you did wrong and how to fix it. Confidence is high, confidence is high.

It took so long to fully utilize the PS3's hardware because it's cell architecture was unlike anything game developers had ever coded for so it took time to learn and develop best practices, not to mention it was overly complex just a pain in the ass to code for in general. This is not the case when it comes to x86 which has been around for decades. Notice how you didn't hear any devs mention difficulties with PS4? Yes, there are new aspects to PS5 hardware which is new, but the underlying way the processor functions is essentially the same as the PS4 which is why you'll be seeing backwards compatibility.
