Well i meant to say that the next consoles will be powerful PCs that may or may not even run Steam through it. If the next console is more like a PC than a console then 100% it'll be an option for me.

LOL, get fucked Nvidia. The cheapest price is about what I would be willing to pay for TWO higher end cards.

Man, these prices are seriously making me consider moving back to AMD. I've had plenty of NV/AMD cards over the last 2 decades, last 5 being R9 280, R9 290, 980Ti, 1080 and 1080Ti. I'm on a big 1080p LED TV using DSR where appropriate, but I'm seriously thinking of taking the money of a 2080 and just buying a Vega 64 with a nice 21:9 3440x1440 Freesync monitor instead.

I get the impression that Nvidia doesnt expect to sell many of these and that its just another option for people already on 10 series cards to upgrade and people who haven't will see the 10 series as a great deal i just saw the vanilla 1080 on newegg for 570$ cad before a 20$ mail in rebate that"s only 440$ usd which is not bad. Now if these cards stick and this pricing stick PC gaming is dead to me as it appears on paper the 2070 will only match a 1080 and its msrp is already the same or more as the 1080's was which to me just isn't right nor worth the price.

I just looked at my receipt for my 9800gt it was 139$ which to me is equivalent to the 680/980/1080 series performance wise for those generations yet prices have gona insane, I love my pc and perfer it over consoles, but if prices on gpu keep getting stupider and stupider, im not gona want to keep being pc gamer, which make my steam collection moot

Præses:

Starting price for 2080 Ti is €1375 here in South Africa. Lovely third world country special... /s
That would cost me NZ$2,394.56 If I was to buy it from your country then add GST (goods and services Tax) + freight + Duty all up would be over $3000 dollars

reix2x:

People keeps preordering and they didn't even know the card performance, as i see it this generation of Nvidia cards will be a big thing for home scientist, but for gaming... i can't see the point
I'm right there with you. Those who want a new card really should wait for reviews. The 10 series is/was very long lived. This 20 series will get replaced in under 18 months. Im personally waiting until I see 7nm parts for AMD's Navi and Nvidia before I replace my 1070. Still playing at 2k as I have been waiting for 4k to get to the point where GPU's easily handle it.

Can you imagine how RTX buyers would feel if we see new cards released within next 9-12 months? Would think AMD sooner than that, and Nvidia anticipating as much, quickly following with refresh or new release. Nvidia would appear as scum of the earth after ripping off customers with Turing then replacing it in less than a year with something better. Usually I dont care what AMD does, but I really hope this time they can pull off a miracle and stick it to Nvidia where the sun dont shine.

Kasp:

I just hope they optimize the new wave of consoles for 144hz gaming and minimal input lag, I'm done with PC Gaming.
That is a longshot, but we can hope. Funny that, signing up to a niche tech forum to tell us you are done. Make sure to head over to reddit's PCMR to let them know as well.

lyfelines:

lol 18 months. noo way.. 10 series was milked because AMD didnt have anything to compete for the longest time, now were expecting 30%-50% increases, and you think replaced in 18 months, the 20 series is going to be milked even more then the 10 series was! 24+ months easy for the 2080+ life span
I don't understand why that is so surprising. Nvidia has had a lot of 18 month refreshes in there history. AMD will have Navi out on TSMC's 7nm process in the next 6-9 months but I have no idea how good it will be. If Navi is good I promise this will be a sub 18 month refresh cycle from Nvidia.

Why are people getting so pissed at Nvidia? They have these expensive pre-orders because they know people will blindly buy into it, and they sure as hell were right about their assumptions. Sure, it's a sucky situation, but as much as I find Nvidia's ego to be irritating, they're not in the wrong here. If you want someone to blame, point fingers at everyone who pre-ordered.

Prices will stay high as long as people keep paying those high prices. I don't like it but I can't blame Nvidia for charging what they can. I hope AMD competes and also Intel's 2020 goal of going discrete graphics is a success. That will stop all of this gouging.

Unfortunately it seems that these prices are only going to continue, at least based on the pre-orders of the FE model being sold out already. I was very interested in trading in my SLI GTX 1080 Ti setup for a single RTX 2080 Ti, but I will not support this kind of price gouging. Thankfully I am still quite pleased with the performance of my current GPUs so I'm more then content to wait a year and see what AMD comes up with in that time.

I wont buy this green goo, and, to be honest, my old r9 380 4gb asus card is still good, look at the prices in Sweden for a 2080 https://prisjakt.nu/search.php?s=2080#t-product Thats a commonly used pricesearch site, and they are, in my opinion, right, all the time. An asus 2080TI is, in Swedish crowns, 15K, thats 1800 usd..... Nah, I'll wait for prices to drop, or rather, gfx cards in my walletsize, to come. :) Or, I'll just move in with my gf and buy a console so we can sit in a sofa and cuddle while gaming.

Hahahahahaha.........hahahahahaha........hahahahahahaha.......good one, ok now show me the real prices. Lol

So I paid 1400$ for my 1080 Ti less than 2 years ago, now, going by those Euro prices, if I convert them to our New Zealand dollar, I'm looking at $2300ish? What The Fuck, Nvidia...

It doesn't matter, we will pay, just get Ray back home safe!!!11!!1!!!!

The cheapest one in Israel is ASUS GeForce RTX 2080 TI TURBO O11G for "mere" 5700NIS [ 1680USD/1350EUR] I still hope Amazon going to get some stock to buy from them, even with import tax and free int Shipping its going to be 1200+200/250 so about 1400USD Although Nvidia promised 999 cards, still hoping for one, its saner price then 1200 For 1400USD I can get a second 1080Ti plus Xbox One X and still have some money left
