What?! I only just upgraded from v2 to v3 about 6 months ago, and even then my graphic card has no benefit from the extra bandwidth.

Sifr:

How will that affect any implementation of mGPU technology in the future? Will Gen6, and indeed Gen5, potentially significantly makes mGPU easier for GPU makers?
I don't think that will affect anything. mGPU is getting dropped off by both nVidia & AMD. nVidia restrict it to higher end cards so they don't have to bother every single gpu they release for update SLI profile. But they aren't limited by the PCi-E 8x 3.0

Don't worry, you don't even break the limit of PCI-e 3.0 it is very common to plan technology "before it is needed". The needs are more to the professionnal rather than us anyway.

I bet this means future motherboards will have 6x 40MM Fans then.

So we just got 4.0, a news article earlier today talks about 5.0 and now it's 6.0? I hope tomorrow we'll go for at least 8.0. 😛

Users who just finished punching their perforated cards with more PCIe 7.0 jokes, please teletype them to the Intel PCIe 5.0 roadmap thread. Everyone else shall look forward to seeing PCIe 6.0 NVMe SDs in the year 2024.

Nope, no RGB so I'm not impressed! We got RGB PCI-E M2 SSD's and we got RGB HDMI cables. Improve your product!
