If you can spend $2000 on a GPU, you can spend $30 on a right angle adapter... Like if you can buy a Porsche, you can afford a $10,000 brake job.
I don't understand, if Porsche sold a car with brakes that burst into flames when you used them you would just be like "lol buy new brakes"??? What is this mentality?

sure, but i knew about the potential issue with the plug way before those cards came out, and there's enough cases with e.g. vertical mounts and/or offering enough space so that you don't even have to bend any cable in the first place.

except Porsche would never sell a product like that, and the times they had issues (GT3 RS engine) they offered free parts/work. ignoring that their cars cost upwards of 20x what the gpu cists.

...to a problem they claim is not there... you are right... well it will be funny to see how they deal with it... if they deal with it at all. AMD will use same connector, they maybe can deal with it and sell pre-bend cable. Who knows. Not my issue, I have 2nd hand 3080 bought in a moment, everybody was hyped with 40xx comming plus ETH mining halt. It costed me less, than 2nd hand gtx 970 used to cost me like almost a decade ago 🙂
Nope, they will NOT! https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/no-16-pin-12vhpwr-for-future-radeon-rx-7000-amd-confirms.html

That's how I have it and so far I haven't had any problems. I put a gpu support under the connector for more security. https://ibb.co/k0CBfhy https://ibb.co/t23NBkS
And now - for your consideration only - if there will be unfortunately a fire or any issue - YOU will be responsible for it - because it was you. YOU alone "change something" in a way it was manufactured... And YOU will be the one that will be blamed for any problems in the future in your case.

There is no change, there is simply a support underneath as the gpu itself has.

ug, if connector is made correctly it should not be bendable in the actual connection. picture show there is connector litterly with IN the connection of holder which should imbe impossible less the connect was was made to small to point it was to flexable and easily giggle/moveable in the connection. None of this would really be issue if nvidia didnt make issue out no where by want to make new "pin" for power

nice idea, I think gpu should start comeing with stand/brackets like that due to there size by defualt/mandatory what ever, ignore the person say if some happen it on you..

Why make an ugly 90 degree adapter when the socket itself could be mounted 90 degrees?

I’ll worry when the reports get into the thousands.

nvidia can take their comment and..... let's just say a 4090 rog strix would not be a pleasant experience this is one of the reason that I hate reviewers and their dumb test benches which aren't real pcs, nvidia clearly test the same way or they would have learned complaining that people bend a cable that is physically incompatible with 99.99% of market cases is not a valid defense my lian li xl is on the larger size most case are mid-small towers, completely unacceptable go on your knees and beg nvidia I'll make a prayer that AMD made a miracle with their next gpu and destroy nvidia in sales @brogadget : considering the backplate of a maxed 350+ watts used for several hours is closer to 80°C than 60°C not surpising the cable is that hot, I burned a finger on a 1080ti@310w before going liquid cooled, it's a video of buildzoid complaining about gpu heating memory sticks and making them unstable at high frequencies that made me touch the backplate and immediately regret it something not often talked about but that you can kind of guess watching builzoid videos is that the area near the connector has all the power circuitry for the gpu, all your "watts" go through there before reaching the gpu which means the connector side also gets hot if it comes to that I'll cut my adapters and redo a cable with thick full wire myself, it's not like I'm an electronician...oh wait.....

Because the card is already produced in this sad form, so only way to solve it is to change the cable.

This is really bad for Nvidia - you need to provide a product as safe as possible - with so many type of cases out here how could they not see this - at least put a warning on the box... Meanwhile, RTX 4090 owner: "Another TUF Gaming 4090 goes kaput": https://twitter.com/hms1193/status/1584873126131036162 From the picture the cable seems to be bent "the wrong way" - and being an Asus it is already prone to melting & fire:p

While undoubtedly true, it's equally ridiculous to think a better connector couldn't be engineered. The calculation was simply that doing that would be "too expensive" and "too expensive" is like a dollar per connector.

"Out of the tens of thousands of 4090 graphics cards now sold" LMFAO....WHERE, there was a handful released on launch day and have been completely unavailable since. I want the Strix 4090, not in stock anywhere and ive been checking every day for weeks.

Was about to mention this lol, no way were there so many sold, not even worldwide.
