I must belong to the few that thinks that Oculus is just a gimmick/fade like 3D games that were supposed to change the universe and pancakes... Whats the point of using Occulus to play games right now if AI is simply stupid and physics are still so basic??? No way to create an immersive environment like this even using Occulus and such things. Carmack must be really happy now... Also 2 stupid questions if someone can answer them please: - What happens to the crowd funders of this thing? Do they get back the money they invested with the proportional profits or they were just raped silly??? - Also can´t we get the same effect of Occulus gear if we use monitors/screens big enough o cover our entire field of vision??? Thanks in advance for the answers!

Well I had a DK2 ordered but I guess I'll cancel now. I also helped kickstart this when it first launched but you guys need to understand as a kickstarter you're essentially donating money. Also Oculus sold out sometime ago to VC's so I'm not sure why people are surprised that they sold again. The only surprise to me is that facebook bought it, although Spark is owned by a member of Facebook's board so there's that.

If this isn't an early April fool's joke, Oculus will be financially capable of keeping up with the high res phone-screen industry from now on, not in the least because Facebook is HUGE and high tech suppliers appreciate that more than Kickstarter. Just look at how Google can make things happen after taking over tiny, yet significant ventures, just because they're Google.

Anyone else get the feeling Suckerburger watched that episode of Futurama with the augmented reality eyephone and got some ideas?

You obviously never tried it. I have a Rift Dev Kit and it is a mindblowing experience.
There are too many negatives about VR. The headaches, the solo experience. Very anti social too.

Let me guess: Sony fan? I think you are completely wrong. All my friends (and even my enemies) want to buy this product.
I have a PS3, yeah sure. But I don't see what what has to do with me not like VR. No matter who makes it. I bet your friends are going to love watching you turn your head and body around like a crazy person.

RIP Oculus. 🙁

It seems that you did not understand the immersion that this product provides. It is NOT just "move your head like a crazy guy." You get into the game. Stop thinking like a "console" player and try to think like a player who wants a true evolution. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INDKNA7kXoo&feature=player_detailpage
VR has been around for 20 years or so, it isn't anything new. Apart from it being close to what it promised so long ago. Why anyone would want to strap small TV's to their head is something I will never understand. If you like it, good for you, but it's always going to remain a fad.

Ghosty have you actually ever used a Rift?
Clearly not. 🙂 I would try it if I got the chance to, I still wouldn't buy one though.
Frankly? You're a typical console gamer. Be happy!
So if I don't like VR I am a console player? I can see your logic.

No, he will buy only when the "Oculus Sony" becomes available. Oculus SONY will be the most revolutionary product in the universe. It's just a joke, Ghosty, do not take offense.
Let me be clear. I wont be buying VR , regardless of who makes it.

Well it´s good to know that the Oculus VR is basically the second coming of Jesus to earth, at least according to some... I need to give a spin to this thing to see if all the hype is true. As for the backers of crowdfunding, for me they should be treated like investors and receive their fair share of the profits instead of some silly rewards. Specially because there are a lot of people who are taking advantage of crowdfunding instead of resorting to business angels because this way they have bigger control over their projects and have a much bigger stake in the company and in their possible profits like this case. For me crowfunding it´s just becoming a way of making money out of naive people... Also, no need to flame people just because they don´t share your opinions... Calling someone console gamer just because he doesn´t see the appeal of Oculus is so retarted...

I see this logic: You never used the product, a product that was considered the most revolutionary of all time in the games universe, and your argument is: "You play alone, do not interact with anyone". And just by chance, you're a Sony fan, and just by chance you see only the negative aspects. A typical console gamer.
You do know you are posting on a PC forum, no? You can see my specs so you know I enjoy PC gaming.

Yes, I know, but If you've never tested the product, you are not being impartial. And your arguments are typically used by console gamers.
That's fair enough. But just because I haven't tried it doesn't stop me from having a opinion on it. Unless I go to a game trade show I won't be able to try it. It's not like I've avoided it.

We discover it only when you test and when Sony manage to produce a competing product.
Mmmm why are you being incredibly annoying? Accusing someone of fanboyism after he has declared his stance clearly is the most childish thing you could possibly do. I don't know if it's going to be a fad or not so I neither agree nor disagree, but I do see his point. You don't have to carry out personal attacks to carry your point across. As if being a console gamer is an insult?...
