Um......... He is on a 980 according to his specs.
Game uses less Vram with the last patch. I was seeing 2.9gb and now its around 2.5gb. I guess thats why he is around 3.6gb... Btw, games runs similiar on nvidia and AMD GPU's. Dev comment on system performance : First of all, we would like to clarify the speculations regarding AMD GPUs. According to our knowledge and intentions, the game performs similarly on both AMD and NVidia GPUs. The performance issues some of you are experiencing are related to very specific hardware/software setups and are not related to AMD GPUs. We are working hard to make sure a patch fixing framerate issues on affected software/hardware setups.

hold on u are using the 980 u are not affected by the 970 fiasco
Edit: His video clearly shows his 980 using the full 4Gigs, with good FPS and frame times.

I play Dying light just fine with 3gb vram @ High textures and slider at 70-80% old value, dunno why all this drama :P This was with pre-patch dunno now, but apparently it uses even less vram with 1.2.1..Will play some more today. BTW 290X vs 970GTX, http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1059?vs=1355 290X is the same or faster 95% of the time Even 980GTX isnt that far ahead in more demanding games (Crysis3, Crysis Warhead).. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1059?vs=1351

I dont know if it was mentioned. But I read that nvidia said that a driver can NOT fix the issue. and that it is a hardware problem and not software. so you all stuck with 3.5gb cards

Actually I have to thank him, the video shows the 980 using all 4 Gigs with good FPS and frame times.

more like the 970 has sold so well they cashing in on this issue to get rid of the r9 290/x they stuck with.
My thoughts exactly. How many of these people who trade in their 970's for a 290x or people who are on the fence and because of this buy a 290x. These people will be even more pissed off when in a few months their 290x is surpassed by the 390X.

fps looks nice (number), but I wonder why recording shows stutter time to time since there should be none. You know... fps is around double of recording rate. And btw, get better mouse/mouse pad, or decrease sensitivity, way you move around it looks like there is a lot of drag between mouse/pad. You can get much better experience with good positional device.
Its 30fps problem from youtube and performance issue wen i record to the dame hdd

troll comment
How is that a troll comment? He's asking a pretty valid question. People who bought GTX970's and are happy should not be using this thread to justify their purchase or bash AMD. On the same token, those who bought GTX970 and want to trade it for an AMD card, should not be using this thread to bash NVidia. People that are unaffected by this whole fiasco, shouldn't be using this thread to bash either AMD nor NVidia. This thread should also not be getting used to try to sell products from your favorite chip vendor.... Only shills do that anyway....

not quite.. there are some nvidia users over at nvidia forums bashing ppl for refunds because they were cheated.. so not quite a troll comment
People who bought based on the specs, have a right to feel cheated. They have a right to a refund as well so long as they're within the specified terms for receiving such. I don't see what the problem with that line of thinking is.....

going by that logic - no one should use this thread. :3eyes:

so let the people bash, big deal. Not like anyone's mind is going to change.

Well that's what you get if you're too biased to one gpu maker.. I've seen it a lot lately, die hard nvidia fans will always bash AMD (the fixer for example, those nv fans somehow really got butt hurt by it) and vice-versa.:infinity: I own nvidia gpu but I never really went this far to defend nvidia, I saw their dirty tricks too many times (usually I called them out if they go too far), so I try to stay biased and always on the lookout what competitor has to offer.

It's been posted dozens of times now in various threads.

Never buy a card with a reference cooler. I had a pair of eVGA GTX660SC's with reference coolers. The reference coolers were barely sufficient to keep them from throttling with a proper, custom fan curve to ramp the fan RPM early. With the default fan curve, I couldn't play any games because NVidia set the thermal limit too low and they throttled in every game resulting in games crashing constantly. The last card I had with a capable reference cooler was the GTX275....

All the complaints about "issues" with AMD's drivers....make me wonder how many people on this forum actually have stable systems.... In 15 years of flopping back and forth, I've never had near the issues that so many on this forum claim to have had.
