Man people are that butt hurt over the Vram thing on the 970? I would not let that sway someone from purchasing a faster card all around that can OC much higher than anything AMD atm. Not to mention a way better architecture. For new readers involved. I am no fan-boy... I have owned... MSI HD 7970 CF Sapphire HD 5870 HIS HD 4870 X2 Power Color HD 3870 CF
Problem is trust. How do you trust a company that's lied to you about the specifications of a product?

I don't even think a 970 performs as well as 2 * 7950s. If you account for all other things including the power draw then you might have something but in raw performance I think XFire 7950 will beat a single 970 pretty handily where crossfire is working 😉

the thing is, 290x is too weak for 4K so 4GB is just a waste on it. Same goes for gtx970. 2GB/3GB is enough for 60fps capable settings.

Amd / Ati cards have always been used to power led commercial billboards. How on earth will they not be able to handle 4k resolutions.Still the whole thing should not have gotten to this point, funny and sad at the same time, lol!!!

Well im running 3200x1800 res 32" 4k = pointless unless its above 40" Did a vid close to 4k res and using 2x 290 cards so kind of blows your idea out the water. http://youtu.be/mgf8nDpK18U 290x2 cards will run 4 K easy. anyone who says other wise cant build computers.
I was talking about one card, not two. :3eyes: Your video kinda proves my point, not that I watched it, your description was enough.

AMD's 4 GB 290 can't even outperform the "gimped" 970. What does that tell you..
Lol!! Things are the way they've always been.Amd's entire driver development dept need to be fired, lol!!!

No, you are not alone. But many don't want any company to show theoretical parameters.
Also why the first ten posts of ANY new GPU tech spec usually contain 9 people saying they will wait for benchmarks before they reach any conclusion. The entire 970 reaction is pathetic. Specifically the folk who are now claiming they have issues specifically because they bought the card based on what Nvidia told them rather than as a result of the benchmarks like every other normal person does. Here's the thing you buy a 970 based on the benchmarks you get the reaction that you are buying an awesome bang for buck card but you turn round and tell people that part of it's 4gig memory is working at a slower transfer rate and suddenly people believe they are entitled to a product discount, a free game, a full refund, or an upgrade to a higher spec card with a discount.

The last two years they have been putting out good drivers. So no they dont need to be fired.
Lol!! I'm just speaking from a general consensus.Personally I've never come across any problems with their drivers when I used Ati cards (X1950 Pro) being the last one that I still own and it still works.Again on a personal note I've been ticked off at Nvidia with the whole temp throttling thing on Kepler, yes you can bypass it with Kepler boost but dangnabit it shouldn't have to be that way.Anyway I digress, you're a current Ati owner and I'll take your word for it, I stand corrected then.

Honestly seeing the post from PNeV, I'm kind of glad I'm never able to upgrade at the drop of a hat.

After all of this drama with the 970, it's good to see the red team gaining some ground in the GPU market. Even if it does come with petty advertising, nobody wants nVidia to own 100% of the market since it would suck for the end users, you know, price-wise. Almost pulled the trigger on an R9 290X today, but I strengthened my resolve to save my $250 in Newegg gift cards for the AMD 3xx series.

Cashes in? That's a good one. More like cashes out. Lets get real. There is some loss in mind-share for Nvidia here no doubt, but if the drama (and it really is full fledged drama, an epic saga with no end in sight), if the drama had any material consequences, like for example an increased demand for AMD, there wouldn't be any need for price cut, would it? Now how about the real reason for price cut: http://hexus.net/tech/news/graphics/79929-gpu-vendors-concerned-declining-amd-demand/

I have since November the Sapphire Vapor-X 290X OC with 8GB VRAM (1060/1400). Best Card I ever had. I sold a reference 780ti to buy this baby. It performs great and stays cool, doesn't exceed 70C in games like FC4 (Ultra with MSAAx8 on).
That doesn't tell if all 8GB work as you would expect. I too run FC4 Ultra MSAAx8 @ 1440p without any issues (stuttering/flickering/input lag etc.), didn't check FPS but it is fluid enough for MP. I would say you would at least need 1024bit to utilize 8GB and maintaining speed all the way, hence why I would like to see someone test it.

Still wouldn't buy one @ $100 USD. NVIDIA ALL THE WAY. Period.

Ah yes, nothing like blind fanboyism.
