refresh isn't nessecceary, but if nvidia could replace all gk104-106-107 with cut down GK110 with compute power that would be interesting, nonetheless i might get the 780GTX if it should be better than 680 by 30% at least, other reason is that my friend soon gonna buy GTX 670 and i might sell him my 680

A 5 GB GTX 780 sounds very tempting as an upgrade for my GTX 680 in terms of VRAM but its reported 30% performance increase means that it'd be slower than what I have now unless I buy two.
I've enjoyed having GTX 680 SLI admittedly, far more than my awful HD 5870 CFX experience anyway, but I really want to get back to just having a single GPU setup, mainly because most developers simply don't bother to support SLI/CFX fully anyway except for a handful of major releases. The fact is that 85% of PC games, being multiformat and led on the consoles, run on a single GPU just fine and I have no plans to move up from a single 1920x1200 display anytime soon (and if I do it would only be to a single 2560x1440 display anyway).

I hope Hilbert still includes the 4xx GTX series in the reviews to compare results. Plenty of people around that want to upgrade their 470 or 480, but are still waiting for that card with a 300 to 500 euro price tag that comes with a worth while performance increase.

so much anger from some about this announcement for some reason
I'm totally excited for the 780, it's basically an "almost titan" for half the price
i've been saving up for the titan for like 5 weeks now...and i'll keep saving for another 4, and i'll have enough to buy 2 x 780...so for the same money i was gonna spend on a titan, i'll be able to have "almost 2" 🙂

These are still rumors. No need for anyone to regret his 6xx series purchase!
Now seriously, the GTX780 / Titan LE. The Titan is around 7% faster clock-for-clock than this rumored card. Titan costs $1000+. This is rumored to cost $600.
Yeah right...

Looking good but the prices are just too high for me.
If the rumors are true about the upcoming HD8970 (the real one not the refresh version) then its going to be one heck of a card, and it will be one monster GPU.
It is a great time to be "ON THE FENCE" about buying a new card at the moment. Wait for these in Q3 of this year, wait til Q4 14 for Maxwell (maybe longer, wait for price drops of current card, or wait for Q1 14 for GCN2....
I think I am in the wait for price drops of current cards as I might be tempted to get another 7970 due to the driver improvements over the past few months. Though two GTX770's are looking tasty 😉

Apparently it is improving but I've seen this issue mentioned in several reviews so you should take that into consideration when deciding between AMD and NVIDIA multi-GPU setups. Single GPU cards don't have this problem, obviously.
That is true but I cannot enable 4xMSAA or 8xMSAA in some DX11 games such as Hitman Absolution or Max Payne 3 because of the 2 GB VRAM buffer and a growing number of games I play hit 2 GB of VRAM usage, e.g. the recent BioShock Infinite. I would definitely opt for a 4 GB+ graphics card for my next purchase (it will almost certainly be the GTX 780).
Crossfire is still prone to microstuttering issues more than SLI according to Hard[OCP]: Neo Cyrus
