An awful lot of time and effort just to teach it to play a single game.
Imagine then military funding/spending effort into teaching it how to kill you more effectively. Maybe they could teach it to be an expert at Battlefield?

What happened to "let's teach it to look for signal anomalies and do some SETI", or "let's teach it to fold cancer protein".
Not that such studies (the latter in particular) wouldn't happen already, but I find it highly interesting that you can win an academic prize with "I teach my PC to play a game on it's own" without any practical impact or applyability in the end.

So you need 1 low end GPU to run Minecraft and 750 more for your PC to play Minecraft ! That's too heavy I will keep playing the games my self for the time being !

That means we need just 100x more performance to have our pocket SkyNets at our home PCs. Thats not that far away IMHO
