Most of the gamers are addicts - I used to be one, and to some degree, still am.
Addict does not care, what his dose cost. He just buys it. And nVidia knows it. Numbers show, they are right.
Im buying 2nd hand cards since GTX 970. Because even that card, was too expensive to me, when new.

Now used 3080.

When you raise prices, you can sometimes make more money on lower sales, which is what happens when demand is inelastic enough to allow it. I suspect this is what we're seeing here. The increase in revenue wasn't significant enough to suggest otherwise, and when you compare it to pre-mining boom revenue and factor in inflation - it's about the same. Gaming is stagnant at best, and they know it. Hence the massive pivot to the next bubble.

AI needs memory, and most gaming cards don't have enough to be worth it. It's nothing like crypto where mid range gaming gpu's worked great.
In other news I think Nidia has outdone Intel for datacenter revenue - since forever Intel has been on a different planet for datacenter revenue, no one even came close.

Eh maybe - i think this is going to fade. There's a metric fuckton of VC money in AI right now - 90% of these companies will collapse and the demand will die down. Also Nvidia/AMD are starting to split their architectures for AI + other companies are starting to develop in-house solutions. It sucks now but I don't think this is going to last long.

i actually did sell some of my shares... to help pay for my mortgage after covid lost me bonuses, but i've kept most of them.
i bought shares based on the "buy what you know" school of stock trading. lucky for me the share prices weren't particularly high at the time. they've since proven to be as good of a bargain as my Apple shares.
funny how the stock i literally bought for fun and games turned out to be serious AF

It takes balls to buy stock with a PE ratio over 100:1. Nvidia PE as of today is 245:1. Its a purely speculative stock. Sane investors wouldnt touch it for its fundamentals.
