The difference is when Nvidia supported Tessellation, they REALLY supported it. So much so that AMD had to come up with other stuff to counter Nvidia's advantage in it. That's the "problem" with Nvidia. When they do something they go all-in and it becomes so difficult for competitors to catch-up. Buzz terms like "Async-compute" and "Rapid Packed Maths" have come and gone. RT and DLSS is here to stay.
Basically, yes. A fully parallel polymorph engine that doesn't bottleneck the rest of the pipeline when tesselation factors go above 64.

Funny that even though they have no GPUs to sell compared to last year, they still can make more tha 60% more revenue. I know NVIDIA is a corp and is also the owner of ARM, but still.
Stop, just stop. You can't buy any RTX 30xx cards because they're in such insanely high demand that the moment they hit a shelf (if they even hit a shelf), they're sold. Look at the huge jump in graphics cards nVidia had in December. You dont get a jump like that from not having cards to sell. They simply don't have enough to sell to satisfy demand. https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/Steam-Hardware-Software-Survey-Welcome-to-Steam
Also this PR bs needs to stop:

Expanded the GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs with 60-class offering —the most popular in the company's gaming lineup — including the GeForce RTX 3060, starting at just $329, featuring NVIDIA RTX raytracing, NVIDIA DLSS, NVIDIA Reflex and NVIDIA Broadcast.

The 3060 releases today, and a minute after release they will have double the price, so yeah.. good job nvidia, people are all very pleased. Oh yeah, please NVIDIA do not forget the GT 1010 and the re-release of the iconic 1050 Ti and 2060. 😡
nVidia has nothing to do with the price hikes over MSRP. That's Supply/Demand. And my local microcenter was selling some of the 3060's for $389.

FFS NVidia did NOT invent the term RT/RAYTRACING (and i don't think they said they did). How many times do people need to be told this. Term has been in existence for 30+ years. I studied it in college over 25 years ago.

This isn't youtubeland. Everyone already knows this. I don't know why you had to spell it out.

But they're the ones to make it work in a mass market context, so everyone else is forced to pay with the rules of their marketing. It's the same for AI upscaling.
