The difference is when Nvidia supported Tessellation, they REALLY supported it. So much so that AMD had to come up with other stuff to counter Nvidia's advantage in it. Basically, yes. A fully parallel polymorph engine that doesn't bottleneck the rest of the pipeline when tesselation factors go above 64.

Stop, just stop. You can't buy any RTX 30xx cards because they're in such insanely high demand that the moment they hit a shelf (if they even hit a shelf), they're sold. Look at the huge jump in graphics cards nVidia had in December. You dont get a jump like that from not having cards to sell. nVidia has nothing to do with the price hikes over MSRP. That's Supply/Demand. And my local microcenter was selling some of the 3060's for $389.

FFS NVidia did NOT invent the term RT/RAYTRACING (and i don't think they said they did). How many times do people need to be told this. Term has been in existence for 30+ years. I studied it in college over 25 years ago.

But they're the ones to make it work in a mass market context, so everyone else is forced to pay with the rules of their marketing. It's the same for AI upscaling.
