Even if you have 5960X 3Ghz, despite how it performs you overclock it or the 8core CPU will get rekt by a higher clocked 4core 6700k. So yes, it still does matter unfortunately.
Only in poorly threaded applications, which is a lot sadly. Not much you can do about old games and such, but properly optimized games such as GoW4 more threads are better than clock speed.

Be interesting to see if Jim Keller has worked his magic again.

It seems that from an architectural point of view the CPU is very interesting once more. There are some convergeances (like the microop cache), but AMD seems to have taken a different approach to SMT.

well i must say ..Jim Keller can work all the magic he wants but if GLO-FLO fu@#$@#$%cked up the process just like they did with the rx480 ..which cant overclock high yet pascal can which is made by tsmc ..better yields.....i must say Amd went on to make zen on the same Glo-flo process...that just tells you
Process isn't the reason for the clock speed difference.

That's an issue with the chip itself, apparently, and not process.

Where did you found that info?! As far as I know, HT is not invented by intel
I ever read on Intel processor Intel® Hyper Threading® just like Intel® Pentium®, registered ® everywhere! Hyper Threading is not Intel SMT implementation? AMD can't call its SMT implementation "AMD Hyper Threading" other thing, i still thinking that the quad Core Zen is an APU... lower clocks and higher TDP per Core could mean "iGPU" or mid-range

Let's just assume the two SKUs are the best and the absolute worst Zen silicon that AMD have in stall for us. So basically the same chip, but one from the center and one from roughly the edge of a wafer.

The naming "Hyper Threading" is a registered trademark of Intel. However, AMD can license "Hyper Threading" from Intel, making their use of the term completely legal. EM64T was actually developed by AMD under the naming AMD64, and licensed by Intel.

"The processor is listed as “AMD Engineering Sample” and is several positions above the Core i7 6900k – the octa-core processor the Summit Ridge variant was originally tested against. It manages the Blender run in 69 seconds – which is exactly the same performance as an Intel Xeon E5 2680 v2 processor. This is a chip that has 10 cores!" If ZEn and Vega are that good i'm all in LOL!!!

If that is real, maybe Intel will pay for their stagnation again.

Bad graph. 6900k slower than 5960x by a lot. 6950x is by far superior compared to E5 2680 v2 Even shows an ancient first gen i7 based 5680 as much faster than the other CPUs. We all know it doesn't hold a candle to newer CPUs. So take these results with a grain of salt(or bucket)
