I'm pretty sure the 18-core processor I mention has something to do what that specifically.

Not even that, maybe record for 18 cores cpu?

If memory serves me correct, how is this a new record when AMD reached 8ghz with bulldozer ? Or new record for intel ? clarification would be nice. [youtube=PAWn8-5F_ak]

thank you for the clarification. I guess the next logical question, was the per core/ thread or a single core / thread ?
On bottom of cpu-z picture you can see it's just 1 core.

"X299 CPU Frequency World Record"....Reading would be nice.... Bulldozer @8.7 is the highest OC on HWBot with many Pentiums and Celeron D's over 8Ghz.

yeah, use a freaking expensive cpu that almost no desktop user can/will buy, not even talking about the cost for the rest of the ecosystem to run it, then freeze it with an even more "rare" non-24/7 LN2 cooler to oc a single core (and most likely single thread) just to get a record number (why did "i" just spend 2k on a cpu !?). guess intel sees the impact on its sales (BYO) and tries to get any attention they can get. how about pulling out a P4EE and do some benches while the LN2 is still liquid...

Intel isn't marketing anything; why don't you read the article instead of spouting drivel.

Are you impressed with a single core (and maybe thread) noteven coming close to the AMD Benchmark from 6 years ago ? Just for clarification, this is 2017 and 6 ghz is big news? I think under the same test and materials, threadripper can reach 12ghz on all cores...
What does that have to do with anything he said or the article? It's a X299 record, which the article states - the ad is by MSI, not by Intel. Agent-A01 didn't say whether he was impressed or not, or anything about the overclock in relation to AMD - you literally injected all of that into thread. No one cares if you think TR can hit 12Ghz on all cores - when someone does it feel free to post the article, until then stop trying to turn every thread into Intel/Nvidia vs AMD.
